Voltage boost DC to DC converter

Does anyone know of a schematic to build a simple voltage booster that can shell out 9v from 3v input. I have some micro drives Rkcstr drivers (9v) and a bunch of 3v hosts. I don't want to get any flexdrives now.

There are some ICs that can boost voltage that high, but you'd probably have to build it yourself.  But, there is little point in going through the trouble of building a step-up converter to power a linear driver, when you could just make a boost driver.  And, in that case, it may be easier just to get the Flexdrive if you don't have the time/money/ability to make your own. It will almost certainly cost more than just buying a flexdrive (unless you need more than a few).

Exactly "rkcstr"... no sense re-inventing the the wheel... unless you have a new
idea and lots of financing...  ;D ;D ;D ;D

they only charge like 300bucks an hr lol

I can provide you with a schematic and parts list for a boost driver for driving the bluray directly from a single lithium ion battery - but as rkcstr said - it may be easier just to get the Flexdrive. You will have to be good at building tiny circuit boards using surface mount components and you would have to buy all the parts individually from Digikey or someplace similar and the cost would end up being about the same. Your choice. Just say the word and I will post the stuff.

There is a boost driver in the Dorcy Jr. flashlight. I'm not sure what it would do to 3V, but you could test it on a DMM.

This is the one I use, 3v boosting to 6v and a perfect match for the phr 803t's :

Here is the schematic for a driver I used to power a PHR-803t type diode in a DX200 pointer host. It can be built on a board much smaller than .5"x.9" with a little patience.
