Hello everyone,
sorry for my very very bad English ...

being I am new in the world of laser and having already burned one I would ask you kindly help:

I bought this laser:
2W 445nm M Type M140 Blue Laser Diode Copper Module w Leads Aixiz Glass Lens | eBay
thanks a lot for the support DTR, you're super nice ...

now I want to do a load test, and reading on the net I am not clear if and how many types of diodes I have to use

I have at home this material:
1N5404 Diode and Ω 5W Wirewound Resistor

my questions are:

the diodes can be go well and how many should I use?

many thanks to everyone
Roberto

The diode has a dropout voltage of 0.8v if i remember correctly. So you would need 6 of them.

Hi roberto,
The m140 445nm diode runs at 1.8A that's the driver you need for this diode,
Why do you want a test load on it?? And you drive the driver with 2-18650's or 2-18350's or 2-16340's . And your build is finished ready to lase away. hope this helps you

Hello,
thanks to you both for the info ...
I have to use it with a driver that has the modulation (0-5 volts)
for this I have to "calibrate" the driver

thanks

ONLY if the current sense resistor is not used. If the current sense resistor is used, it will drop 1.8V and 3 diodes are needed. No more.
