Sure laser module + GBW-H10N diode build?

I've been lurking for a while and have done some research into this combination.

I'd like to remove the 5mW diode and driver from this Sure laser module. Then I plan to press this GBW-H10N diode into the empty Sure module.

I'm going to run lead wires from the diode and out of the back of the Sure module so I don't have to worry about having to fit my chosen driver into the Sure module. I plan to use a rkcstr Micro-Drive V3 calibrated with a dummy load circuit. I may use a 9V battery as the power supply, but I am considering a custom battery from here.

I don't plan on housing the components yet but here is the calibration build:
  • GBW-H10N 405nm laser diode
  • Sure laser module
  • rkcstr V3 driver
  • 9V or 12V power supply

I'm working with a college budget so any shortcuts I could take, cheaper vendors I could use, or better components to yield more mW for my dollar that you veterans could suggest would be greatly appreciated.

I believe sure units back housings are too short you must use aixis to fully enclose driver

somehow looks like an aixiz module to me.. yet.. yeah try it.. i think it will work fine!

I am running wire leads through the Sure module and out the back. I will connect those leads to the driver outside of the module.

The Sure module advertisement claims it would better accommodate, a hopefully focus better, a Blu-ray diode over an Aixiz module. The Sure lens may get nearer to the focal point of the diode providing better focus.

I'd like some advise from those familiar with the particular module and diode mentioned in the OP. I don't have the spare bread to risk pressing a $30 diode into an unfamiliar housing.
  1. Is the Sure module's acrylic lens medeocre?
  2. Does the Sure lens form an ellipse when out of focus?
  3. Would the Sure lens assembly be able to pinpoint focus either a PHR-803T or GBW-H10N?
  4. Modules available for 405nm diodes; Sure versus Aixiz. Which is better?

The lenses are virtually identical. You will see no appreciable difference between them. The aiXiz is basically just a bit longer inside.

If you are planning to use a regular, small, rectangular 9V battery, find another source. These batteries sag below the needed voltage very quickly. If you are going to use a 9V "bench-type" PSU then it will be fine.

He said he's going to run wires from the diode's pins out the back of the sure module, so the back housing would not have to fit the driver inside.

edit: Oh I just saw OP posted this above. my bad

Also, another item to consider would be a SF-AW210 blu ray diode. They are pretty similar to the 4x burner. I just got some of the SF-AW210 diodes and am selling them for $33.28. with coupon code HTDTENPERCENT
