Is anyone familiar with this 405nm diode ? I'm still new to the whole practice of lasers but I'm not sure if I've fried the diode or I am not correctly hooking it up. I've found the pinout on the data sheet listing LD anode and PD anode, please correct me but aren't anodeS negative ? Also the common pin is listed, but I believe that isn't used... Thanks for your input !

Yer doin' it wrong. The PD connection is an OUTPUT from a photodiode used to monitor the output of the Laser Diode. And anodes get hooked up to positive. If you've hooked it up with the common lead floating your laser diode may still be OK, or it may have been fried by ESD. Try again and let us know how it goes.

So before I attempt this again, I would like to clarify....

LD Anode: Positive
PD anode: Negative ????
Common: Not used
