i keep hearing that the 4x and 6x BR sleds have the same diode in them, so why the $44 and $57 price difference?

any particular reason i would want to order the 6x instead?

...i'd like to phase away from phr and switch solely to 4x and 6x BR

Do you see that big "kink" in the line at 160mA?  That is the "safe" boundry for the diode.  Yes, it will continue to lase above the kink, but the life of the diode is shortened and unreliable above that point.  You can run it at 200mA (with some considerable risk), but I wouldn't warrant it there ;)

Just a reminder, we now know that this diode was a 4X NOT a 6X

The 6X's first kink is up around 200mA

4X = 150mW
6X = 200mW
(both after AixiZ acrylic lens)

Peace,
