Setting up a laser driver KES-400A diode

hello, i got an KES-400A laser diode. I know it not a powerful diode. But i really want to use it as this is going to be my first advanced blu-ray laser pen build. I got a very small aluminum led light hosts which i got back in summer 2014. I got a 3.7v aaa size battery, aixiz housing. 3 diode's and a 405nm driver with an build in step up converter and a trimpot. I want to set the current up to 35mA, and i got three diodes. They are the same. Now, to set this up i need to build something with specific diodes and resistors to simulate the laser diode. But i got 3 legit laser diodes, can i use one instead of the diode and resistor build to set the current up? Idc if i blow one up, if it works at least.

I can't find the answer, and i'm new. I builded an burning red laser back in December 2013 with a green laser driver and an aixiz housing. assembled in a green laser pen host which was pretty hard.

This time, this blu ray laser is going to be water tight. Host is going to be twice as small! I ordered a 3 element lens which is very easy to get water tight. And i want to practice on the KES diode first before using an PHR-803T.

And by the way, are laser diode's sensitive to drops when assembled? Whole assembly is 14MMx90MM And probably weights about 80grams. I want it to be pretty resistant to shocks. And you can't harm laser diodes with ESD when all assembled right? As the case is GND. Just want to make sure. Thanks

Sorry for my bad English

I will post pictures when its all done. If you want pictures, just ask.

Pretty sure these diodes can only take around 35mA of current. These are some of the earliest 405nm laser diodes around, made specifically for the Playstation 3. 5 pins on them too. red, violet, and near infrared all in the same unit.

I may have a 35mA linear driver still kicking around somewhere.

Thanks for replying! By the way, probably a dumb question. But I want to set the current to 35mA. Is it possible to do this without a testload? 5.5v. I got a multimeter. Can I connect it directly to the Laser diode driver and set the current? If not, can I use the laser diode and set the current up while the multimeter is connected to the laser diode and the driver in series? Or in parallel?

thanks*:D

That's a good question for lazeerer or flaminpyro. Send a PM to either of those guys. I'm sure one of them can help.
