Question Sanwu challenger 405nm multimode help

Tl;Dr at bottom

Hey everyone, after lurking for a while and learning as much as I could about lasers before deciding which one to buy my first laser is the 405nm 500mw challenger. This thing is SICK. Sanwu really knows how to put a quality product together. I do have a question that I can't find an answer for however. I got it with multimode, which I would be regretting less if it wasn't so hard to work. The clicky is really spongy, and I can't always tell where the "half click" demarcation is. So SOMETIMES I get it to the right mode, sometimes not. I mostly have a problem with medium/high mode, which you have to half-click 4 and 6 times for respectively. If I am getting it to switch, I can't tell the difference between the two. Is there an easier way to do this?

Tl;dr~can't tell difference between med/high on challenger. Having trouble switching modes w/spongy clicky. Advice?

Default Re: Sanwu challenger 405nm multimode help

I can share what I've learned with the few multi-mode lasers from Sanwu that I own. Don't have your exact laser, but consider the half-push,you can push any amount past the half-way mark, just don't go to the full click and that will be a half-push. After you turn on the laser wait a full two seconds before you put in your code ( 3-4-5-6) pushes and after you've put in the correct amount of pushes wait another full 2-3 seconds for it to register. Hope this helps some.

How to tell the difference between half on and full on I can't help there, taking you don't have a LPM to check, so I'm guessing I'd try to burn something on med than on high, you should see a difference. Best I can do there. You've got a great unit the multi-mode does take some getting use to but once you get the hang of it it works quite well .

Welcome to the forum and be safe. You did get the correct safety glasses for that wavelength your going to need them. That 405 can be deceiving so watch it with that beauty. Enjoy and be safe.

Welllll I kind of left the glasses out of the equation like an idiot. But given the few close calls that I've had ill get that taken care of.

Also, I didn't realize it takes a couple of seconds to register, that does help. When it's in low mode sometimes if I wiggle the tail cap a bit it gets slightly brighter, which is weird.

So on a side note, I just wanted to comment on how durable this laser is. Completely by accident, me being a dummy, I managed to drop my laser 4 feet to the concrete ground earlier. I though for sure I had just destroyed my new laser. After my butt hole relaxed I picked it up. Aside from a good impact mark on the head it works perfectly. Sanwu makes some good stuff man.

Glad I could help. Safety glasses are a must! Your eyes won't grow back. Please take care of them. That lasers no joke she can do some serious damage, quickly .

As far as twisting the tailcap and it becomes brighter? Maybe a bad connection with the battery connection ???

Sanwu's are built like a tank you should get years of services out of your laser. Enjoy
