I have some questions about it...
Does anyone have it?
If you have it and tested wattage, is it really 300-400mW?
Is it focusable?
Is it able to light things on fire?

:thanks:

I don't believe anyone has it yet. I'm pretty sure it was released a few days ago. Wicked lasers is so backed up right now even if some1 did order it I don't think it would be shipped put anytime soon.

As I have a few of their lasers it should be 400+ mw and at that power you can light thin paper on fire. It will burn everything. It is not fousable so you have to use a magnifying glass or some type of convex lens to focus it.

Cheers,
Jeff

Edit: sorry my mistake. The new sonar series will only produce 200mw+ I was thinking about the sonar extreme they had. But 200 mw is still considerable power and will still burn everything. 405nm is an amazing wavelength and its a awesome burner. If you ever decide to buy it be careful. Please wear safety glasses and be safe.

I ordered the Sonar Extreme 200mW, but canceled the order when I noticed that it uses CR123A, which seem to be hard to find in a reliable brand and prohibitively expensive.

I'll re-order one when they release one that uses 18650's or AA/AAA.

It was in fact released in the past week despite sharing the host of its bigger brother SOnar II which costs roughly 2 grand.

the 200mW Sonar Lunar is quite an achievement for the price. beautiful hosts which resembles a $2000 toy, with a visible purple beam.

to some.. well most ppl on this forum this isn't news as a lot of ppl are DIYselfers and can rig up a blu ray laser for less than $50, but if you have the cash to burn then by all means buy one.

Lasers aren't supposed to look like toys, especially not at that power, they're dangerous devices and should represent that, which is why when you buy a fully-fledged portable laser from a company like CNI, it has a shutter, interlock, LED indicator, interlock and keyswitch.

i really don't like you. you take everything literally and are basically a dick to everyone on this forum.

I never implied that the SONAR II is a toy or looks like a toy.
I just don't see any use for it outside of the fuckingaround spectrum of the plausable uses for a laser of such high output with a CLASS IIIB WARNING label stamped on its forehead.

as far as CNI goes, I don't see anything resembling the Sonar S1/II in specs. So why even bring up CNI in the first place?
or maybe i just couldnt find shit on their scattered website. if there is a blu-ray laser putting out 200mW from CNI rivaling the price of the Sonar then by all means enlighten us.

ooh WAIT

i found one.

the PGL-III-A-405

but how the dick do you buy one since the page leads you to a pdf file...

it has lower output, probably costs 3x the price of the S1 and looks like a tool. which I assume is made to be used by "tools" such as yourself who promote their products on every laser thread you happen to keep a watchful eye on.

You clearly did, and quite frankly I don't care if you don't like me, I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to spread information. I don't work for CNI, I just made a point.

Moving on, if you want to order from CNI, contact Ava, I'm not sure of the email though. Be prepared for sticker shock, they're going to charge more than $1000 more likely.

I dont really know where to start on this matter... You have no reason not to like him other then you dont like being prooven wrong? He is a vet of this forum and that means he has been here for a while and know his fair share of information, he is not trying to insult or piss you off, he is giving you information. I suggest you take some time to re-think some things.

HELL NO. I'm not spending 1,000 bucks for a laser. I can spend 850 less for a good laser like S1 Sonar Lunar that can do everything that 1,000 dollar laser could do.
I just emailed WL about how long it their prices will last. Luckily, they're permanent! Well, I think I got all the info I needed, Thanks guys!

ok. so back on topic...

anyone know yet whether the drivers in the sonar series can handle overvoltage properly?
like say someone decided to use 3.6 volt RCR batties in one, would it blow up?

Well, unless you want to void your warranty, I wouldn't screw with the laser pointer unless you have money to burn.

Yes you did, you clearly said:

SOnar II which costs roughly 2 grand.
beautiful hosts which resembles a $2000 toy

What other $2000 toy could you possibly be reffering to?

CNI add safety features to their lasers because they actually care about peoples safety AND the future of the laser industry. The fact that such high powered hand helds from WL do not have safety features cost so little and are so widely available to the public means that there is a large safety risk to those who do not understand how dangerous lasers are or are just too stupid to obide by the general rules of safety when using high powerd lasers.

Some that used to cost 1,000 bucks and lowered to 90 is a great deal for me. It's all I want in a sweet package. High-powered, purple, FDA certified and cheap.
EDIT:CNI has plenty of safety features, but way to expensive for me.
