Anybody have a video on removing the phr-803T heatsink? Or detailed instructions with lots of pictures?  :D I don't want to accidentaly break my diode.  :p

That doesn't acually show it being taken off. Good video, though. I might try it with the pliers.

Sorry I didn't actually catch the heatsink breaking when I made that video. :p But yeah I just grab each side of the heatsink and twist in opposite directions, and usually the diode pops right out. Do this over a soft surface though because if you are unlucky the diode could fly out and get damaged if it hits a hard surface. Sometimes the diode doesn't completely come out of the heatsink when your break it, but it is easy to get out if it doesn't.

yes the easiest way is to use snippers and pliers, i actually used sheet metal cutters and pliers , worked great , but you might want to practice on the other ir and red diode heatsing from the sled (ld with 4 pins)

You don't even have to snip. Just grab opposite sides, and twist back and forth a little bit several times. The metal is really brittle, and will snap. Don't twist too far in either direction, just back and forth over something soft.

Thanks for all the help, sounds good. :) I'll try it as soon as my diode gets here.
