Can someone please tell me : On average what is best driver setting for PHR-803T's ? For 6X burners ? Any imput would be greatly appriciated.

803T: 150mA
6x: 180-200mA (180mA is best, some people set it to 190mA).

I would set the 803t to 120mA just to be safe. I did 150mA and it burned out.

That means you were not properly heatsinking it or your diode was weak. I have a diode set to 150mA and it has lasted a month of daily use. I usually leave it on for 5 minutes.

Mine too. I have it running on 150mA, but I never use it for longer than like 15 seconds just in case.

If you want it to light any color matches quickly and pop balloons and cut E tape do 150mA. If you want to use it and not worry if its gonna break if you use it too long do 100-120mA. Either way a heat sink is always recommended

Not necessarily. Diodes rarelly get killed by heat, and it would have to be scorching hot. I killed 15 PHRs when experimenting with different currents. From all of them only one survived 160mA, putting out 164mW. And with that one i never know what will happen.

You must have been lucky with your diode. Or you simply haven't gotten to the number of hours yet (different with each). The ones i killed lasted around 10-20 hours on average when set to 150mA or more, or one to two weeks of leaving them on an hour and a half a day (on purpose, to get the hours to climb faster). During the testing none of them ever went above body temperature (measured with a sensor soldered to the diode). Only one of them survived this testing in the long run.

If you're willing to risk it to get more power, go for it. But if people ask you for a current, they usually ask for a safe current.. There is a reason i don't set PHRs much higher than 120mW. I do set my own to 160mA, where the latest one is doing 170mW, but i don't expect them to survive this for very long.

As for the 4x current, no one really knows yet. The 6x can survive 190-210mW when put through the same testing as the PHRs, but again, hard to say how long.
