Pulsed driver for BR?

Hello again:D

Is there anywhere to get, or a way to possibly make a pulsed driver for blu-ray diodes(or red for that matter)?

Just an idea, but if we could pulse or diodes at a higher current as fast as they run in a player/burner, I bet our eyes might not see the pulse, and we could get some SERIOUS power from our diodes ;D

Good idea? Or am I barking up the wrong tree......?

check in the experiments/modifications section, there's a couple threads about this.

people have been playing with 555's, to some success.

Yes it's doable, but really it's not worth the effort unless you need the high peak powers for something pretty specific like Raman spectroscopy..

Lol, actually with everyone including myself pushing the PHR-803T's diode near it's max, I was thinking it'd be nice to see what it could do in pulsed mode. Seems we could get over 200mW with it.

But if its pulsed at a higher power, won't it just have the same burning power? or does the burning ability actually increase despite the pulsed beam?
