I will be receiving my "new" LaserBee back from Jerry soon. It has been repaired, resurfaced, and re calibrated.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

May I please get on the list so that I can see how it "measures" up.

Thanks
TW

Where ya located at ludwig?

Oh and those that take the time to look at the spreadsheet will notice that I once again have the lasers in my possession and have retested them.

It seems that some of the members on the list aren't in a hurry to test and send
out the lasers to the next person. :-/

I can't understand why they don't want  to see the completion of this
Power Meter Calibration & Comparison Test Project...
If I was involved I can assure you that the day I received these lasers...
they would be tested and on there way the next day... Maybe that's just me... ::)

These Test Lasers were first sent out at the end of Aug of 2008....
and only 11 members have had them in their hands so far....
Man... it's been about 8 months since this test got started...

I'm not complaining... (I'm not even on the list).. I'm just stating facts..
I would really like to see the results of ALL the tests...
It's too bad it's taking so long...

I agree. I've had to poke and prod a few of the participants and am glad we finally got them back moving again.

That being said, Zom-b is next in line. (happytomato was just a shipping hub, so that taxes weren't such an issue to Igor, however I've no clue of Zom-b will have to spend any additional taxes or not. If he does, it can be forwarded to HappyTomato to then send it to him, we just need to get payment for shipment to zom-b.

Finally some progress....

If you send the lasers marked as a cheap gift, like <$20, I think it'll be ok.

OK then I'll send them off to you marked as a cheap gift. I'll need a postal code to get a quote for postage. Once I have that you can paypal me the funds to mail this off. PM me with this if you prefer.

Zom-B, did you ever get the lasers to add your data to the spreadsheet?

What ever happened to this Project...
What did we find out....

Is it still going on or has it died by the wayside...

Awww... I read most of the thread and was looking forward to the conclusion. This is an epic 19 month project! The spreadsheet that is available is still interesting. I am no statistical genius but it appears most of the LPM results so far are pretty close to each other right?

According to the thread the project is waiting for Kenom to get a job ;) lol. I assume something else went wrong since Kenom is making some cool new LPM meters.

I think a lot of the problem was solved by the fact that these nice, inexpensive thermal meters like the LaserBee are now available.

The original problem was people were using optical meters without a calibration point for 405nm light, and were therefore having to guess at a scaling factor to get the "real" power. With thermal meters like so many people have now, the point is moot because the thermal meters don't care about wavelength, they sense power pretty accurately at most all of the applicable wavelengths, best we can tell at least.

Without the need for scaling factors for optical meters, there's less need for comparison between meters.

terribly sorry for resurrecting a dead thread and dropping the ball on this one, but i just found these lasers while packing up my stuff to move out of my home. I want to know what everyone wants me to do with these lasers.

LOL! I don't even remember now, who paid for them?

If "WE" paid for them, sell 'em. Give the money to c0ld.

Peace,
dave
