Haha, yeah, they will get hot with high currents. I've had them running 420mA for >20min. on the "RED" setting and they would be hot, but they held up just fine, I'm still running the same test load since I first made them.
Anyway, the only thing to keep in mind if I do the heatsink is that it will need to be isolated from ground, which means it should not touch the housing if it is grounded.
