Well I went to roSSco's house the other day and attached his 405 lens to my PHR UV Testlight build and was immediately impressed by the results. I went from 90mw output to 150mw output at 150ma!!! A very impressive gain over the Aixis lens. I am definitely getting some of these when I get some money.

For power and for less stress on your diode, they are VERY much worth it.

On my no-duty cycle PHR, I run it at a measly 90mA to get 97mW in a Jayrob Pocket Mini.

Yes the 405-G-1's are well worth it. I do also want to try LarryDFW's version.

I have 4 of Larry's Version and 3 of Jayrob's version , TO ME both perform equally well.

But the the no spring threading on Larry's version is a big plus, threading is very smooth.

On Jayrobs version i like the fact that the lens can be easily removed and reassembled, in case i need to clean the lenses outside of the assembly.

Re: The power of the Hi-Power lens!!!

Arenared;

I just drop the entire lens assembly into an ultrasonic cleaning machine (about $39).

I use various solvents (no residue) depending on the cleaning task.

i need to get one of those little machines . .

and i second the request for which solvents do you use in the ultrasonic cleaner?

Also , which solvents to avoid , i dont want it to break down the adhesive over time.

If the glue is cyan or superglue, avoid acetone and gasoline (benzine ?) derivates ..... freon is good, but in a lot of countries now is banned ..... solkane is a decent alternative to freon ..... isoprophyl alcohol too, cause is one of the lipides solvent ..... also ethylic alcohol, but the damn denaturant left a lot of deposit, except when you use pure alcohol for food / cooking use (mean, the edible type, at least 95 degrees, no additives).

Edible alcohol is available in supermarkets (at least here), cheap ..... for isoprophyl one, you need to ask a pharmacist or chemical supplier, is becomed practically impossible here to find it pure, but the denaturated one is denaturated with isobutyl alcohol (for give it a smell and a horrific flavour :p), not with state denaturant, so still no residuals, still enough cheap ..... for solkane you need to ask a company that already use it, cause, at least here, is impossible to find it in less than 50 liters cans (and buy 50 liters of solkane for clean a lens, cannot be defined cheap, LOL).

Only an advice, if you decide to use isoprophyl alcohol, use it in a well ventilated environment (acts a bit like ether), protect your eyes (very dangerous for direct contact), and overall, no open flames around ..... it evaporate very easy, and have a flashpoint of 15 :eek: ..... a fan, or better continuous air exchange, is recommended ;)

I started with Isopropyl Alcohol, but did not achieve the results I was looking for.

Now, I am now using Acetone for about 30 seconds, which does a better job.

Both of these are VERY FLAMMABLE, so be very careful.
