I sent him another Email from a different account asking some "newbie-type" questions so we'll see if we can Bait him out ... I found another of his auctions where he's claiming that he uses Nichia diodes (which tests have proven fall somewhere between a PHR and a 4X IIRC) so I'm relatively convinced the whole deal is a scam.

WHICH, again, pisses me off almost as badly as the photos these guys use to sell the displays, I wish people would be COMPLETELY honest when they show killer BR aerials, etc and let potential buyers know that they will only look like the pics in TOTAL blackness with just the right amount of fog, angle of view, etc ...

Oh well, "caveat emptor", they always say...

DO NOT BUY FROM HIM!! I bought a violet phr and a red laser and both burned out within about 5 minutes of use even though I added heatsinks to them. Upon checking the driver I found it was running at 8.3 volts on both lasers.

If it's too good to be true as my mother always told me.... Wait if you just bought from him lazer give him negative feedback or did you give him positive before it burned out? Well this jerk has 100% positive feedback, figures. Report him start a dispute break that feedback it will cost him money.

Hey Lazr - Do you still have the driver board(s), I might be interested in taking a peek at them... PM me if they're around, also if you need parts for those SHINP lasers I can prob help you out, as well as if you need 12mm/18mm heatsinks for the SL2-s.

Yeah, I had a feeling with this knucklehead ... I can't believe he actually used his own drivers on the red one you bought, though - I have several SL2's that I put LOC diodes into, the stock driver is at 2.73v and can be easily cranked up to 400mA+...

Man, people like this dude really p*ss me off

His website BlackLasers.com Is a RIP OFF.....When I was first getting into lasers he sold me some modules with drivers for $150....I didnt know any better back then but now I do....And the drivers he uses suck...and mine died in less than 3 hours of use....He used to be into buying cheap shnip lasers and putting 405lds in them but I have long cast him off.

Unfortunatly I gave him positive feedback before they burned out. As for the driver I got mad at the red laser's driver and smashed it with a hammer. The violet driver I took the "5 volt regulator" out putting 8.3 volts and tore it off. I wasted about $200 with this guy.

In responce to KGB and brewcity:
I will be probably be using rckstar drivers for their small size but I am curious about your drivers. I will probably take you (brewcity) up on your heatsink offer sometime but Im currently just not building any lasers right now. Ill pm you guys some time for drivers. Anything is better than the drivers/lasers from j baerwolf.

Hello Gentlemen,
May I join your sewing circle?
Just thought I would clarify a few things:
First off, the "300mw eBay Scam", is not a scam.... We are not in the business of selling empty promises. 2 new Videos are available that you might be interested in, it should put an end to any of the power level doubts you guys have taken a liking to... if not, then sadly ignorance is the winner of this debate. Absolutely no 'tricks' or editing of any kind used in filming, they are 100% authentic and accurate. All office lights are off to avoid ambient light sources affecting the detector.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iic74vdiL8

Here are the details:
--------------------------------
Blue Violet Laser, Minimum output = 300mw CW.
Laser Power Meter = Scientech S310 with AC2500 Large Aperture Detector.
LPM has a flat response through the visible spectrum down to 200nm.
Detector absorption = 94.65%, so add 5.35% to get final output level.
This has been confirmed with Scientech's engineers to ensure proper measurement. The LPM has also been tested using a laser with a known output and was dead on.
Final reading for this diode = 304mw + 5.35% = 320.26mw
--------------------------------

*Are you guys aware that there is someone on this forum getting ~500mw from a 5.6mm diode? This technology is thriving right now and advancing at an impressive rate. I did a quick check and found several >300mw 405nm hits, maybe you guys are a little behind? Please be aware we are more than capable of proving output levels for all our systems. We have sold these worldwide. Our largest client is a company you see on TV every time (if you flip through the channels). they have been Variance approved multiple times for using our lasers in both indoor & outdoor events. You can believe me that the F.D.A only accepts specific & accurate details. We offer to complete all technical portions of a variance application to any customer of ours as a courtesy. Our systems have proven dependable for long duration use, I personally have seen 2 DMX systems run 8 hours nonstop with no sign of degradation or damage... They are now our in-house demonstration lasers with well over 50 hours of projection time.

Maybe you guys just needed a place to vent, and I've listened.
Now I have a few things to say on a personal note:

Mr. Brew: Thats a theory on the PHR diodes that LPF users seem quite accustomed too, however it is incorrect... I do not have details for that diode, but apparently you are already aware that they will not compete with our proven output level & duty cycle.

Lazer: I'm going to have to call you out on this warrantied laser you bought from us that "burned out in 5 minutes" and then you "smashed with a hammer"... I checked back 1 year and found you never ordered anything from us going by your Arizona location. We have never used "5 volt regulators putting out 8.3 volts" either, and I'm not sure why you feel it necessary to say such fabricated things. We have never sold a handheld pointer on eBay, or complete module + Driver kits... so I'm baffled as to exactly what you "pulled the driver out of". As far as I can tell, you're just some guy with a fish story.

KGB_Productions: The only module we have ever offered for $150 was the magenta diode when they were first becoming available. You may see this as a 'rip-off' now, but apparently you did not when you purchased one. Nobody likes their new toy aging, but some deal with it better than others.
Now you claimed "mine died in less than 3 hours of use", but yet you are also selling it on this thread, showing that you are indeed LYING:

I understand you guys are all DIY'ers who have but the highest confidence in your own abilities... However, making all of these unsound assumptions is very immature and just plain ignorant. Please be aware that any attempt to publicly post personal information that may jeopordize the safety of our employees, will be taken as a serious threat.

Please do not bother asking specifics about our equipment or sources as we consider this information proprietary.
We are not the arguing type... so this will be our first, and last post on this forum.
God Bless!

I purchased the KES and the 160mw 405nm handheld pointer(with $10 enclosure)..both were 150 and the Blue Ray is the one that died in ~3 hours.........

I think everyone here knows about Dave's accomplishments. He is legendary ;)

Hmmm...Interesting. Seems like a lot of exhaustive, expensive R&D for a company stuffing their (ahem) "Technological Advances" in a lowline (or in the case of the SL-2, BOTTOM of the line) chinese stepper system with an amateurish (at best) homemade driver.

Blacklasers, not to stoop to bashing or ridicule, but if you had indeed done any R&D or research (as have many of the accredited senior members of this and other forums) you would definitely not be making the claims you are. The good news is that one of your products was recently purchased and should be making a detailed appearance here soon, complete with build quality analysis, actual output specs, etc. so in the event that I am incorrect with my fears regarding your product, you should soon be vindicated, and I will be the first to publicly apologize.

In the meantime, best move your "In-House" demo units as well as your R&D facility out of the way, your Mom needs to park the car, it's raining...

(sorry - couldn't resist)

IDK.... all I saw in the Video was a meter face and a purplish dot...
Something looks fishy........

For all we know... someone was tweaking a pot to make the meter's
needle move... we can't see anything... (I may be wrong)

If you needed to turn "All office lights off to avoid ambient light sources
affecting the detector.
" then you must be using an optical Sensor...

Oh... wait.... I just found the spec sheet for the Sensor...
The AC2500 head is a Calorimeter (Thermal Sensor)...
not an optical/Photonic Sensor... so why would the office lights
even affect the detector....

Unless you're taking the readings in a sauna with IR heatlamps...
there is no reason to turn the office lights off... unless there is
something we're not supposed to see..

I've never taken a reading of a laser's power in the dark using a
Thermal Sensor or an Optical one for that matter...

Maybe that's just me.....

Well, whether there's something "fishy" or not we'll see once I get the SL2 I had a friend order from them ... in the meantime, PM me if you want to read the transparent threat PM this guy sent me tonight, challenging the legitimacy of myself, my business, and our use of laser displays in general - even went so far as to question our use of lasers as a "public safety concern" ... Seriously, just to calm the waters I'm not gonna post it here, but it's actually pretty good reading, if thinly veiled and poorly researched.

Funny, but a quick CRIS (Corporate Registry Index Search) in WI shows no trace of this guy, we'll see what my attorney can dig up regarding Tax ID, business license, FEIN (considering he has "employees") appropriate zoning at his business address, etc - maybe we can turn this into a classic case of "you show me yours, I'll show you mine" - or maybe we can all just let reputation and history stand for itself... Either way, no worries here!
