Re: Pioneer 16X BDR-209BK

~720mW @ ~440mA, runs like an efficient 12x... but then keeps going! Awesome Jordan! Any chance you might be stocking these? Excited to see what RHD gets on his drive. Also @ ARG shouldn't the "Max handheld output" be a little bit lower? after about ~930mA it starts to dip.

Re: Pioneer 16X BDR-209BK

The first post says that he used a G2 lens.

Great result Jordan! I'm eager to hear how 750ma goes.

That was edited in ;) The original post did not include what lens, or the graph, as the graph is new, but ARG.

Will you be offering these on your website anytime soon?

Doubt it ;/ Though you can easily get the drive for <$75 from many sources, and taking apart a drive is far from rocket science. It's a piece of cake to take one of these apart. I used to take apart all sorts of drives for fun :)

Made a graph of the output :)

Thank you for the tests! Very exciting news :)

Excellent work, ARG!

Ordering one of these drives now! Will post my results when I get it :)

PS: I'll also be spectro'ing it at full power. I will consider metering it at different currents, we'll see about that..

BIG EDIT: Drive ordered! Shipping via UPS ground, should see it in the next week or two. This is very exciting for me!

Thanks DTR! :D

It seems like all of the suppliers with a better price on the 208 are out of stock. It would actually end up
costing more, unless someone can find a better price. I'm about at my wits end.

Nice test Results as always.

As for being the same ones i sell. Well iam not sure about that.

There is 2 "1W" 405nm 3.8mm diodes i sell. I dont really have names

Here is one 1) This is thefirst one i sold for some time

I sold these diodes above^ as >850mW with a G lens.

Clearly you can see they are rated Much higher but i sold them at 850mW+ so that i dint have to worry about members popping them if they choose to go higher..

Pretty much power for power identical to the diodes you show. But This diode Kinked at 720mA so i dont think its the same.

I cant tell you though for the Number 2 iode was.. Iam out of stock for the next week on those and i dont have any test results saved on them. Though i have more on the way so i can post them when they arrive.:) But i can tell you the power is again pretty much identical but a notice of slightly higher output VS current on the top end and they cost alittle more but i stuck with these for the most part recently for the past while unless otherwise asked.

So it could very well be the same as the nmber 2 ones i sell. That be nice to know because i can find another source for them now and bring price down for bulk but if there not then price is pretty much stuck at this for now.

As a note though Both the diodes i sell are reliable or a better word for it is accessible its just no one wanted to pay the higher price for them in bulk over the S06J. I could always get them. But i never stocked them fully. Only bought 10-20 at a time and when i sold out i ordered more since iam not so much a diode seller now adays. I dint sell many.More so in build is what i do but those that asked ive sold them too as a "Holding over" till we get a better souce.

I have some more 408nm diode in the order. though 5.6mm they come out of medical lasers.:) We will see what those will do.:)

Good chance though there not the same though. I dont recall 1A. But this is months ago. So ill have to double check for you.

If these are selling for 68$ then they might be diffrent....

I will do a power run again when the arrive to see if they ae the same.:)

Hopefully you found better ones:wave:

Does anyone make an adapter for a 3.8mm diode to fit into a 5.6 holders? I just bought a set of four knife edging modules that have holes set for 5.6 and I would love to use it with one of these.

You can have it board out to hold a 12mm module instead now.

Ive never seen 3.8 to 5.6mm.

Iam not even sure it would be smart to use them for such a high voltage/current diode. Plus it would be very hard to center the diode /beam.

You are talking about something 900 microns in thickness. If something like that was made,
the fragility would render it almost useless.

Long ago, I machined a piece of Alum to fit
a 5.6 Aixiz pocket and really pressed it in there.
I then machined a 3.8 hole into it.
True, it was a lower powered diode, but it worked for me.

Actually, I thought someone made one. Contact Flaminpyro and ask him. Idieally, you would simply have a small metal disc that you press into the back of the 5.6mm hole.

OD: 5.6mm
ID: 3.8mm
Width: 1.8mm

OD: 5.6mm
ID: 3.8mm
Width: 1.8mm / 2 = 0.9mm thickness

So basically I need a washer with a 5.6mm OD and a 3.8mm ID. Once the diode is pressed into something like this it would have adequate strength and heat transfer with the included back plate that presses against the back of the diode.

While 900 microns sounds very small it's still just 0.9mm.

Or just get a 3.8mm module, you can get them, copper, for $5 a piece from dtr.
