Well, according to the USPS tracking service, my package arrived at the Denver facility at 12:58AM, then at the Castle Rock facility (where I live!) at 4:28AM. SO my diodes should be arriving today! I'm so stoked! I got my build kit understood, and practically all built, I set up my driver to 110mA this morning, it's all set up in the host an everything. Once I get my diodes I'll just set the diode in a module, solder it on the driver, and tighten my set screw, then we're done! BUT! Then I have to set up my charger and batteries >.< How long do 10440 batteris take to charge? I need 3 and can charge 2 at a time, so it all relies on that charger! Anyway, here's some pics ;) (more once it's set up, I don't want to unsolder it just so I can take a pic with the heatsink in, then unsolder it for my new diode/module)

RECIEVED!

Beam shot, and a 'dot shot'. Pretty sick!

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

UPDATE: For some reason, my diode isn't working >.< It's a brad new PHR, I harvested it today, as far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with it! But When I try to use it, it sepperates into a white section, then violet, then white. And it only has a thin ribbon instead of a dot. It's kinda irritating, I'll try it with an LOC. Also, the 10440 batteries don't fit...I was told by Jayrob to use them, but they don't fit....this is starting to look bad.

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

I know this is a whole new post just for pics, but it's pic heavy of me unpacking my massive order (massive for me :p) and I figured it deserved it's own post. This isn't 'post building' or whatever. I'm just going to have a lot of pics, sorry. All the building pics will go back up in the first post. :D I can't wait, typing this is only making it worse! Time to unpack!

I'll see if I can email them to you...

EDIT: Nope, not working....Also, it burns my hand, and soft skin instanly. This is so badass! SF-AW's can give out arround 200mW right? What's the average output on em? I can't wait :D

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

Diode just died :cryyy: I don't know how, it was stable at 110mA, then I bumped down and went back up (after using another diode, I took current down to 55 then worked up) I got to 80~ish then it went off. I clicked off, then back on and now it's only a dim dot. :cryyy: I have had such terrible experiences with blu-rays, if these next two don't work (AW210, and GGW) then I'm done with blu-ray. Hell I tempted to stop now...

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

That's the risk, when you adjust the pot while powering the diode. The current dosen't always go steady up....or down. Sometimes it will spike, thus killing your diode.

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

o shats. so sorry bout your little treasure :cryyy: could you email me the unpacking pics?
when i build my bluray (next few weeks) i will keep a thread log like this on my progress. i am never going to us another diodde in mine i just dont wana risk it, and before i attach my diode i am taking my driver to my pops work at the CSIRO science thing i am going to attach it to an ociloscope (wrong spelling) to see if there are any spikes in the output.
cheers

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

Will do ;) I will always try to do a build log, I like it :D And I know I'm not the only one out there that likes to watch the 'log' of somebody's build. And man...that package was HUGE (that's what she said) especially for a bubble pack thing, it was bursting from the seams! And, Since I had an LOC as well, I put the LOC in this build. I have no idea where the current is, but I don't really mind if it's a lil bit too high. Red isn't my thing, I just wanted to atleast have something other than green  I wanted more variety. But 405nM so far is my thing, I LOVE it.

PS: Is it bad if one of your favorite things about building a laser is 'setting up' the diode? Taking off the PCB, taking out of the heatsink, placing in module. Is it weird that I LOVE those 3 steps? It's like...the only thing I'm good at with lasers :p

Re: PHR build! with a 3405 kit!

No offense but that soldering job looks horrible. You did remember to discharge the caps before connecting the diode again right? How are you testing the current?
