For Petes sake that's a lot of purple Pete!

So I am going to go through all of my lasers and post Petes pics (sorry can't help myself) of the different wavelengths we have to show the differences between how the wavelength/color can be different even though they are rated on average at a certain nm. There's lots of reasons why the color may look different from what diode you happen to get to how hard you push them. Where else to start but at 405nm and work my way up to 685nm.
I split thsee into 2 sections so the first section is 150mW and under and the second are all class 4 up to 880mW. The truth is its really something to see all of these beautiful beams together so it's OK to just enjoy them too.

No animals were harmed although I think I may have smelled the black on the gypsum board burning and I may have been stung a few times taking the pics;) All lasers survived including a 700mW SOJ6 that was only in a pen build with basically just the small copper module that the diode is pressed into with no back half for cooling. The SOJ6 in my opinion can handle being pushed much better than the bdr can so don't overlook using that diode. I think the major reason is because it is a 5.6mm rather than the tiny 3.8mm bdr. I ran them all for over 1 minute. I have a lot more 405nm pens including a few class 4 but they have momentary switches and I wasn't going to try and clamp all of them down.

Annoyed that one is out of line that I didn't notice. I was just trying to get the pics taken and not get too burned or risk blowing any.

There's no such thing as too much 405nm wouldn't you agree!?

My next victim will be 445nm so stay tuned to see what rhymes with blue:) Actually I'm not really sure how I'm going to deal with blue as I may not know what diodes are in some of my lasers so I may have to just show the ones I know for sure are 445nm and then 450nm and then the ones I'm unsure of. Of course I also just built a 455nm and it would be boring to see it by itself. I can throw all the 462nm together and there are 2 07E 465nm builds but they are 470+ as well as an actual 473nm Jetlasers unit but I also have a 3rd 07E standing by awaiting build. From there it will have to be 515nm and under, 420nm, 532nm, 589nm (only one) and unfortunately no 593.4:(. Then 635/638, 650-660 and finally 685nm as I have 2 of those. I am going to try and get this all accomplished within a week or less but no promises. I really need to get all this stuff put back in cases as it's taking up all of the family room and my wife is probably going to get sick of seeing it in a few days. I don't like the clutter myself and it bugs me every time I see it. Laser goodness has it's price. I figured I should do something like this while I still have all of them.

You're right Pete, you can't have too much purple!
Don't choke on the smoke!

Way cool:beer:
It looks like they burned a hole right through the smoke:)
How did you manage to get them all turned on at the same time and pic's to boot? I'm counting 14 laser's!

Thanks. I just look at them with a flashlight before turning them all on or turn on the ones I know can better handle the on cycle first. Try and get them on and aligned as quickly as possible.
I was just over in the presidential election thread and had to get out of it. Threads like that just cause a buildup of anger until the posts turn personal. Why members think it's OK to rep others for things that have nothing to do with lasers I'll never understand. I try and give it out to those who deserve it. Someone explain to me how any of the threads or posts not laser related in any way have anything to do with a persons reputation at a laser pointer forum. Bleh....
Sorry, see how much the arguing got to me though and I was only there 10 minutes max.

On a more interesting note I got the pics done for the 445-450, 455-473 and the 510-520nm:) I'll post those later this afternoon or evening. I'm just going put the pics in their proper place in the different wavelength threads.

Thanks as always to everyone. Yeah, I probably should have but I didn't think of it at the time. I do still have all of the different wavelengths I have taken pics of so far separated because I think it makes more sense to store them by wavelength and not just all over the place.
As far as my other comment, I just can't stand it when things get personal and ever since the whole rep thing went down instead of it at least making some sense now it's practically meaningless. Took me 3 years to reach 400 and now people you could get that much in a few months and not even build or own a laser at all.
Yes I do know that I am at the top of the heap with rep right now but I would rather it have some form of structure that at least new members could look up and read about so they understood why it is there to begin with.
I don't belong to other forums so I don't know if rep has real meaning or not. I get it if it was a forum like "the talk about anything you want forum" but when you specialize in something shouldn't it mean more? I see this site as a very specific thing and not some general topic. Don't get me wrong though. I have no issue whatsoever with talking about other things but they are off topic. If I started a thread about peanut butter why in the world would I get rep for it unless I'm testing each type to see what burns the best with a laser. IF it has nothing to do with laser at all then explain to me why giving someone rep for it is meaningful here.
I'm all for helping others and giving rep for it if it has to do with lasers and I'm guilty of giving rep to some new members to get them going IF I believe they are actually here for the lasers. It encourages them and gives them an incentive to become a part of this place and contribute. I'll go along with rep is OK if it's in any way laser related including donating to the forum but I just believe that rep should not be given for everything. How can members not see that it greatly devalues not only the site but your own personal rep. How can rep for anything and everything be justified in any way. Honestly I don't even know if the meaning of rep here is still the same as it was or its been changed. I'm not trying to make this personal I just don't get it and I believe it's one of the reasons many of the members who used to hang out that had EARNED their rep have stepped out and we are much poorer as a whole for it.
I've just really felt down about this place since all that happened and don't blame anyone for leaving. I've come very close to walking away many times myself. Regardless of how much people want everything to be "fair" there's practically no such thing. You really want a world where everyone has the same number of lasers, same hosts, same output, same everything? We all can contribute in our own way and that's what makes it interesting and fun. I want interesting and fun. I don't want blah.
I'll tell you what though, I'm going to work on posting all those others I got done right now:) Hopefully it will not be too blah;)

Wow, I am pleasantly provoked to pontificate pertaining precisely to your procurement of such a plethora of purple pinpoint perfection proudly producing a parade of pretty photons perceived as profoundly perfect photographic pleasure.

Thanks my plethora of Reds;)
I should have the 445nm-450nm stuff posted in about 15 minutes.

Touché.

That's crazy impressive pete! I only have 11 405s. I can't believe you got those down beam pics without starting a fire :P +
Ah nuts i've got to spread some around. Will rep when i can

I probably have another 15 405nm but they are all momentary switched on pens and it's too much of a pain to try and clamp the switches all down.
