So I am going to go through all of my lasers and post Petes pics (sorry can't help myself) of the different wavelengths we have to show the differences between how the wavelength/color can be different even though they are rated on average at a certain nm. There's lots of reasons why the color may look different from what diode you happen to get to how hard you push them. Where else to start but at 405nm and work my way up to 685nm.
I split thsee into 2 sections so the first section is 150mW and under and the second are all class 4 up to 880mW. The truth is its really something to see all of these beautiful beams together so it's OK to just enjoy them too.
No animals were harmed although I think I may have smelled the black on the gypsum board burning and I may have been stung a few times taking the pics All lasers survived including a 700mW SOJ6 that was only in a pen build with basically just the small copper module that the diode is pressed into with no back half for cooling. The SOJ6 in my opinion can handle being pushed much better than the bdr can so don't overlook using that diode. I think the major reason is because it is a 5.6mm rather than the tiny 3.8mm bdr. I ran them all for over 1 minute. I have a lot more 405nm pens including a few class 4 but they have momentary switches and I wasn't going to try and clamp all of them down.
150MW and under:
Class 4 up to 880mW:
All 14
Annoyed that one is out of line that I didn't notice. I was just trying to get the pics taken and not get too burned or risk blowing any.
There's no such thing as too much 405nm wouldn't you agree!?
My next victim will be 445nm so stay tuned to see what rhymes with blue Actually I'm not really sure how I'm going to deal with blue as I may not know what diodes are in some of my lasers so I may have to just show the ones I know for sure are 445nm and then 450nm and then the ones I'm unsure of. Of course I also just built a 455nm and it would be boring to see it by itself. I can throw all the 462nm together and there are 2 07E 465nm builds but they are 470+ as well as an actual 473nm Jetlasers unit but I also have a 3rd 07E standing by awaiting build. From there it will have to be 515nm and under, 420nm, 532nm, 589nm (only one) and unfortunately no 593.4. Then 635/638, 650-660 and finally 685nm as I have 2 of those. I am going to try and get this all accomplished within a week or less but no promises. I really need to get all this stuff put back in cases as it's taking up all of the family room and my wife is probably going to get sick of seeing it in a few days. I don't like the clutter myself and it bugs me every time I see it. Laser goodness has it's price. I figured I should do something like this while I still have all of them.
