DUDE!!  Delete that thing.  Here!

I have never seen anything so beat up.  Looks like it was pressed in more than once with pliers!

Whoever you got that from should never get another dollar from you (or anyone else)

sorry :-[ i wasn't thinking about the size of it I just recently got this camera. it's been through a lot I suppose...i think it got over heated or shorted. the back of the diode is pretty burned :-/

LOL!!

If Hemlock Mike had seen that he would have passed out from the sheer size of that picture.   :p

It's too bad you don't have a "before" on this.  I'm willing to bet that it looked like this when it was assembled.  Probably lucky it worked at all.

I've killed quite a few violet diodes. I've killed three just this weekend and the weekend isn't over yet ;)  NEVER has one heated up enough to do that kind of damage from running. That was done with a soldering iron. The scars were made and the chunks were removed by pliers slipping.

Peace,

That looks like the low powered red/IR diode from the 803T.

just a tad :-[ i've killed way too many diodes in the last 2 months[/quote]

You could turn it up to 550ma's and make it really a blue laser (very low power level). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EORq5JXD-Bk
My long dead blu-ray officially died at 650ma's and was indigo at 550ma's (I know...WAY to much power). ;D

thats quite a good shot, for even closer shots you can put a lens on your camera, just a normal convex lens will work, like a mag glass.
