O-like's bluray driver

Hi to all,
just need some quick information on the bluray driver from O-like.:yh:
iknitsteel2990 claims that the pin assignment on the board is wrong.

On one side of the board, there is one solder point which they claim it to be laser diode +. On the other side there are 2 solder points: the first one on the left is VCC power positive + (+batteries) and the other one is laser diode _. But iknitsteel2990 says the lonely solder point on the one side is power + and that the two other one on the side are the laser diode + and negative.
Just want to know if this is true before I solder everything to the driver.:yh:

I can confirm iknitsteel2990's findings.

I thought that mine was DOA when I tested it as the O-Like illustrations. When I tested Iknitsteel's instructions, viola !! :)thanks:)

I tested the driver and it went right up to 350 mA and the coil started to de-solder itself....

Below 240 mA, it was stable. YMMV

Hmm, driver is 200mA max, as claimed by O-like.

It'll be good for 6x max, for anything else, a more poewrful driver is needed.

I wonder what IC they use, if upgrading the coil and schottky would result in more current output.

what kind of voltage should i be putting into this driver if im hooking up a 150mW 405nm diode? i had 3 AAAs hooked up to it, about 4.8V. on the specs for the diode i bought, it says the diode is suppose to take Recommended Current: 80-110mA and voltage 4 - 4.5 Volt

this driver is dropout, right? so the input voltage should be a little higher than what the diode wants? so if the diode wants 4 - 4.5, should i have the driver input voltage even higher than 3xAAA batteries?

just tried wiring one of these up. mine has those 3 solder points, plus another near the spring labeled "Vcc".

i tried wiring like the review video said, didnt seem to work. i am using dummy load of 6x 1N4001 diodes and a 1ohm resistor.

then i tried wiring it by putting the battery + to the point labeled Vcc(next to the spring) and i think it burnt up the driver, i saw some smoke come from driver, lol.

these drivers seem kinda crappy. ooo and when i got it, before i even took it out of the bag, i noticed the little black part on top of the little coil on driver was cracked. :(

No, it's a boost driver, your 3x alkaline probably killed it at the "set, go".

Use two only, for 3 V input.

Solder diode to the pins as they are placed, you can't solder it other way around I belive . Spring is battery negative point.

Sorry man...I don't know why o-like is keeping the same pictures on there website if they are not good...the 2 pics I uploaded are the right way to hook it up!
I'd say to contact o-like...that is what I did when my pot was loose and they said they would give me a new one...and then just follow the steps Eudaimonium gave you and you should be good.

the one i got is a little different than the one you guys have pictures of.

here is mine, currently wired the way that youtube video shows, and as you can see on the one side there is also another solder pad near the spring labeled Vcc, which i tried wiring the battery + to, and that's when i got smoke lol.

when i hook volt meter across resistor right now and give it the like 4.8V, i get nothing across resistor

and if anyone is interested, heres the crappy dummy load i put together :p like? lol yea it's really rigged up. i dont have any breadboard or anything to put it together on, so... this is what i did :)

Hi All,

There are at least two different O-Like blu-ray drivers.

@ Dan39, the images you have provided are a different driver to the one Kylemiller1994 was asking about.
It has a push button momentary switch on the board, the driver in the images you provided did not.
That one pictured looks like one I bought from O-Like about 10 months ago. That one is a boost driver, but the max I could get output from it is 143 mA. It works wired as the O-Like instructions that came with it.

The driver with the push button arrived with no instructions, and did not work when wired as the O-Like web page diagram, but it works fine as per Iknitsteel's video.

Can't wait to stick one in my pen build!
And if I set it to 105mA instead of 100mA, will the diode's life shorten dramatically or hardly a difference ?

trying to build a driver for a ps3 laser
i have regulator LM 317
100 OHM VARIABLE RESISTOR
2 10 OHM RESISTORS
1 DIODE 1N4001
10 MFD 16v CAPACITOR

If i'm not wrong PS3 diode are PHR-308T's...
For the driver, there is a simpler way to build one, only need 6 parts:
Your diode
Aixiz module
LM317
12 ohm resistor
Capacitor
and a power source!

Then wire everything like this:

With your 12 ohm you'll get about 105mA flowing thru your driver. Bluray diodes need 4.8V-5V to operate and this driver need 2.5V above that. So 5V+2.5V = 7.5V to operate. If you connect a 9V (you'll have to change it often), don't let your laser on more than 1 minute. Let it cool down.

Hope this was helpfull and if I am wrong on any point, please anyone correct me!
