Hey guys.

Here's my new build:

Nao, I have a driver set to 475 mA for this diode. After standard Aixiz glass lens, it gives off 600mW of 405nm light.

I was under the impression that it's all great current, not too much nor too little.

However, at O-like's page it says "We don't recommend over 400mA for long life" just in very bad English.

I find very little information about these sleds around these parts.

Is that good current or not? I would hate to see it dead within a year.

Also, have a video:

Enjoy :)

P.S. How's my English?

Thanks man :)

So, anybody here with personal opinions on 475mA of current set? Good, not good?

Great Build Buddy. + For you.

I have Mine set to ~425mA and its doing ~603mW With the G1 lens.:) I cant remember exactly what the currant was because i gave it a little bump a few weeks ago by slightly turning the pot. Mine is not the same 12x sled you used though.

Here is a Great Round up of 12x currant mA setting.

Hope this Helps.

English is Excellent.:)

Thanks for the link. Plus reputation given.

So it would seem I'm driving mine a little hard huh?

Should I decrease current?

If you look over the chart it seems that most of the 12x are the BDR 205 and they have it set to around the ~450mA. There is around 20 people that have it set Higher then 450mA and they are still running.:) If this was my build i would just keep it No More then 450mA for a long life.

I know you will not see a difference in Beam and maybe Lose ~25mW if you drop it down to 450mA.:)

If you want to know the Exact currant of mine i can take it apart and check that for you in about 30 minutes. Just let me know.

Awesome build Eud!!! Your english is excellent. :D Great music too, it went along nicely while watching you almost draw lines on your walls.

Nice job on a great laser & for not burning everything on your desk!! +1 for you when it lets me again

Aww thanks guys!

Lazereer, if it would not be too much bother than yes, I'd ask you to check the current if possible :)

I know of several people on here with BDR's driving them at 500-550mA with no problems yet, and running them good and long!

425mA is fine. The problem i've seen from these is from the coatings and not the current handling ability. From my experiences having LED'd a couple of these, over 700mW or so with a 405-g-1, they get REALLY sensitive to back reflections.

Yob made his builds famous for having them last at 800mws for a while. I think 600mws will last you awhile. 425mA was the decided max long life safe current setting through IgorT's hard work at researching and testing the 12Xs.
