Hi all,

i have recently ordered a blu-ray diode from ebay ( cgi.ebay.co.uk/150mW-405nm-Blue-Violet-blu-ray-Laser-Diode-in-Module_W0QQitemZ170293535990QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item170293535990&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1308 )

Note: i have removed the h t t p:// from the link to work around the not enough posts to post a link problem

I have had a look at a few posts about what drivers to use etc but I wanted to check that some of the drivers i have been looking at will power the diode without owning it.

I have thought about building my own driver on breadboard but obviously this will be far to big to put in a pointer so I may as well order a driver that will work.

can are there any LEDs that have the same kind of input specifications to check the circuit / driver works? or shall I order a cheap red diode?

would anyone mind having a look at the diode I brought from ebay and recommend a driver?

also, what is a good host to use for my first DIY laser?

thanks all, there are some great lasers on here!!

Best Regards,

Nathan

Take some time to read through the stickys in the tutorial board, the experiments board, and maybe the buy/sell/trade board.

There are a myriad of different answers to your questions.

Yeah just do what dave said and look around at the faqs there is alot of them. As for host / driver, you could use a flexdrive and a dorcy host...this guide would explain it all, links included.
