Updates:

* Now running this blu-ray diode in a Pocket Mini with a FlexDrive set at 280mA's - Getting 384mW's! :D *Using the 405-G-1 glass lens mod shown here:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1237515270/0

* Diode died at 280mA's after 15 minutes. (1 minute on times)

* Others are getting mixed results with the diodes harvested from these sleds. See here:

Senkat sent me a blu-ray sled to test...

Here's the graph that I got with the blu-ray diode from the SF-AW210 sled.

I didn't want to push it too hard yet. But I will if that's what Greg wants me to do... :)

It seems like a high efficiency 6X diode, or maybe even better! I have not tried to check voltage or anything else. I just put it into an AixiZ module and a heatsink and took some measurements. (acrylic lens)

Also, the sled contains a short open can red diode. I did not test it, but these have been graphed here:
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1210649510

It definitely seems like a really nice blu-ray diode. First impression is that it is much better than the 4X diodes. But we need some other testers too!
Jay

Edit: This looks like Daves 8X!!! (although they are different sleds) He got 200mW's at 193mA's. And I got 200mW's at 191mA's! :D (He also got 250mW's at 230mA's and if you follow my line to the corner... same thing!)

Dave's 8X readings with AixiZ acrylic:

I have one of these, did yours arrive in as bad a condition as mine? Mine was filled with shattered optics, and the metal cracked, with the diodes hanging off it. As soon as my power meter arrives, I will be conducting some careful testing, mA by mA, plotting power and voltage,. Several other people have samples of these too, so don't worry too much about blowing it... Also, don't DrLava's graphs go with the current along the X axis?

There....

I changed the X and Y axis to the same orientation as Dr. Lava's graphs.
Jay

P.S. Yes, mine was beat up too. I think the guy that supplied them had to have his source damage the sleds in order to get them! Makes sense anyway.

mine came trashed falling apart lol but i have one in a kryton waiting to get tested 8-)

You want to help an old guy out with the software that you use?

Peace,
dave

You mean for the graphs Dave?

It's just an Excel sheet. I have to admit, I had my wife set it up for me! ;D And then I can change stuff like the Axis and enter readings.

Now that it is made, I could send you the file, and you could simply edit the entry's (if you have Excel), and it would be reflected in the graph! :)

You can edit the name too. So it can be used for future graphs as well...

That would be magnificent! I KNEW that Excel could do it. I just haven't taken the time to learn Excel. I don't use it for anything else :-[

Peace,

Your welcome!

Really strange thing just happened to me....

I was over the hill at the other place and posted this graph in a thread where the person had mentioned that they were waiting to find out about a 'supposed' new 6X sled.

I posted it, and did not mention any names like I did here. I even mentioned that I was not selling these, but just that I made some measurements and wanted to share. And asked if anyone else had tested the blu-ray diode yet.

The post got deleted!

So I thought maybe I just clicked the wrong button or something and posted it again, along with a second post right under it as a test.

Guess what? The graph post got deleted again! But not the post under it...

Obviously the moderator deleted my posts. But it is strange that he did this. He did not even PM me or anything. In fact, I PM'd him, and he did not respond.

I don't understand this kind of treatment. I hope he can't come over here and start deleting good informative posts...
Jay

Edit: I think is was because I had LPF links in the post, and it was automatically deleted. Thanks for helping me to understand Dave.

A great piece of information got purposely deleted without any explanation...

Twice!!

At least PM me! Man if that's how you get treated over there, then it sure doesn't make you feel very welcome...

Oh well... /rant

I guess if people want to learn anything new, they will have to come over here!  :)

I don't understand Dave... I go there and see the last two posts in my lens thread... One by Charlie, and one by me. Just saying that acrylic will degrade with high power blu-ray's.

Go there and hit 'refresh' on your browser...

Hey Greg, I would like to set this diode at 275mA's in a host and use it for a bit...

I believe that it is the same 8X diode that Dave has. Just a different sled. Our power measurements are almost exactly the same.

At that current, I will have about 375mW's through the 405-G-1 lens. I'd like to see how it lasts with normal use at that power.

It's your diode, so what do you think?
