excellent news Jay.

guys, do you remember where we were just 12 months ago as far as 405nm power.... and what we were hoping for ( 60mW some day maybe !!! :)))

can you give us a closer shot of the dot on the wall when laser is few feet or few meters away? I'm curious how dot is shaped.

Also, what batteries are you using with Flex Drive V4 ? You said its holding well at 280mA setting, right? have you tried higher than that?

thanks

man do i feel like a complete jackass.... i had the freakin diode hooked up backwards.... things like that havent happened in a long time but i guess it was my impatience... lasing properly now. ::) (whistling...)

at 250ma im getting 247mw..

Drew --

Are you drawing any current at all ?? That is strange. Usually a damaged diode is still an LED :(

Drew;

Now we know that this diode can take full reverse voltage. ::)

I wasn't sure that they could, judging from the few data sheets we have seen.

Glad they are still working.

yeah my impatience got to me this time. :p cant really say ive done that since i first got into the hobby... anyway the diode ive got hooked up now stayed in the 243-247mw range at 250ma over an ~10min test. its in one of DTMF's mini heatsinks and got a little warm so i cut it off. im gonna put it in a solid 2" block of aluminum drilled out for an aixiz and see how long i can run it for now.. :D

So from what I see on here, 200mA would be a safe level to run this at for a long life, or could I go higher?

Hmmm... In the early testing of the blu-ray diodes harvested from these new sleds, we are getting a wide variation. (glad your diodes are ok drew)

My readings were a bit higher. At 280mA's, mine would be about 300mW's throuth AixiZ acrylic. But with the 405-G-1 lens mod, I'm getting 384mW's.

Dave just posted a graph of the SF-AW210 blu-ray diode that he just tested. He said he tested two of them, and they were about the same. His readings were lower yet.

I must have got a freak diode.

Here's his graph...

so far both of my diodes have been pushed to 250ma. one with a lava drive v4 and the other with a rkcstr. both have output ~240-244mw average. i havent done any serious testing though.

lifetime of diode #2 is done...less than 20 min total runtime in a dilda host with a rckstr driver at 250ma and 2x 3.6v cr2 batteries... :'( the labby is still going atm...

What's the heck! I was so happy of my 154mW enhanced IgorT BR, and now some more weeks of tests/discoveries of you fantastic guys and I'll see it neglected in some dusty warehouse of the Stone-age...... :-/

Did you just leave it on for 20 minutes?

And you labby, is it just constant on? Just heatsinked, or TEC?

What hapened? That better have been a dud!
Sounds like these aren't the 8x diodes that some of us think they where.

Bummer Greg...

I can't believe you are still saying that you want to replace this! Stop that! Not going to let that happen. I'm very VERY happy that you sent me this one to test! :)

I'll make it up to you some how. ::)

Maybe they will come down in the future. But in the mean time, we can get some good testing done!

Jay

No worries at all, Jay....I am contributing to the education of the forum by doing this, AND making one of my distributors (YOU !) very happy as a side effect - and THAT, my friend, is what it is all about ! :) Yes - I INSIST on replacing the sled if you kill the diode - that way you will have another one to set at a decent power level, and smoke the crap outta anything you point it at !

<start rant>
I am more than a little bit pissed at the "bait and switch" tactics of this distributor - and if they didn't sell the PHR-803T's at such a nice price to me, I would throw them out with the bag of cat crap that goes out of the cat boxes in my house each day ! To build a relationship with a vendor is fun, but challenging - the challenge is mostly on their part, though - they MUST show me that it is worth my time and trouble to deal with them - and if they cannot do that, then I look elsewhere. Keep in mind that I run my little shop for FUN - and when it stops being fun, I turn my back on it. THAT is why I "fired" a different vendor - the one that was selling me the IR diodes....they are incapable of filling out customs paperwork properly, and when I receive a bill from FedEx for "customs processing" that exceeds the amount of the purchase I made - it pisses me off.

<end rant>

Okay....anywho, these clowns are fired - so if anyone is to purchase these sleds, look to High Octane, and his LE shop to purchase them, as to the best of my knowledge, he is the only one selling them right now, and he has them priced at a decent enough price, which I am fairly certain that nobody on here will be able to match, or beat.
