New cheap 5mw pointer from amazon.com

Hello, I have a question about my new 5mw 405nm pointer (Works great). I have tried pointing this at my hand at very close range, and actually, it started stinging. But when I try this with my 532nm 5mw pointer, there is no heat. Why is this ? :thinking:

Because the 5mw 405nm pointer is probably overspec (definately if it is stinging) and the 5mw isn't too overspec, unless you have a LPM you can't be sure. Most "5mw" pointers aren't 5mw at all, just like some chinese "200mw" pointers are like 20mw. Make sure you get goggles, any laser capable of stining your skin is capable enough to blind you

And 405nm is much better burner than 532nm, even at the same power.

Your 405nm is an overspec one, just as daawood123 said...
