I decided to get a little more involved on this one. Instead of making heatsinks and spacers to fit inside a flashlight body, I made an entire new head. Everything you see past the rubber is mine. The pic of the module was before I completed it. When it was done, I grounded the negative pin on the diode, and there was a delrin plug in the back end that let the positive wire come through, which attached to a spring. It ends up being like a green module. I would've liked more copper on the head, but you know how those things go.. The module is a very light press fit (about 150 pounds to push it in place, which is light to me, as far as a press fit goes), so it should dissipate heat to the aluminum head as efficiently as possible, and from there, it's exposed to the air.

All in all, it turned out pretty good. I'm not a fan of soldering on such a small scale, but it turned out perfect. The flexdrive is set to 125ma, and when the beam is focused, I completely realize why you guys like these better than red burners. Best part is, it's a forward clicky with a pretty stiff button so it shouldn't accidentally turn on, but I can use it momentarily if I want. Should help to keep the runtimes down, even though I probably don't have to worry about it with all the heatsinking.

Anyway, here are the pics.

Yeah, the pespective on that pic was a little wierd in that it made it look A LOT bigger than it really is, none the less, thats one very nice build you got there. :gj:

Hahah, thanks guys. :) I wish I could get those size effects on purpose! It's only about 7/8" by 6", but it does look like it could double as a small club in the one pic.

Hmmm..that gives me an idea.

i burnt my last PHR out at 125mAh with a big chunk heatsink... be carefull. just thought i'd chime in. maybe you have a tough ass diode though. and the copper helps allot im sure.

Very nice. I wish I had some better tools for working with metal. I end up using files and a dremel for almost everything. lol

Nice build, I wish I had the tools to do custom pieces.
