Hello guys. I am new here, this being my first post, and I figured before I made any purchases I should ask the pros here.

I am going to be following Styropyro's video on YouTube about building a violet laser.

I guess I cant post links so to view the material please watch Styropyro's and look at the description.

Well the first purchase well be the diode. I am purchasing it from the link provided in the description. Only I am thinking I well purchase just the diode in the heat sink to not have to worry about pulling it from the sled. Is there a difference? They are  the same price and I don't see why I shouldn't buy the diode it's self.

Second purchase well be the driver. The link is in the video description.
I am buying the kit rather then already assembled because I have a relative who can put it together for me for free. So I well save a few bucks. If there is a major difference between using the kit or the pre-assembled then I well buy the pre-assembled. It's going to be the 100mA as instructed in the video.

Well third well be the module but that is pretty much not a varying thing, so unless there is some better one out there then I well be sticking with this one.

Well thats about it. I have all the other necessary items like power source, housing, etc. Any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hey thanks man. I really don't know a whole lot about lasers or their locations on the spectrum so bare with me, but would a beam from a laser of this kind be visible at night?

Yes, it would. It's not all too bright, but it is visible. 405nm (violet) is low on the spectrum, and our eyes have a hard time "seeing" it. It will probably look very out of focus when you first see it, and the beam will look large, even though it's not. A lot of people don't like it, but I think it's pretty cool. And violet is such a beautiful color!
