My laser "shooter" The start of a build thread in progression but nothing to see yet

Well, coinciding with building my first laser is a running contest:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/contest-win-lpc-826-now-going-thru-may-25th-62682.html
So this is my entry thread. With getting my shipping notice for parts this morning, and examining my proposed host last night, I felt ready to start a thread.
Nothing big or high powered, but after discovering I'd gotten a lower powered BR LD from a player instead of a burner I felt a little cheated until I saw this contest.
Coming to me for this are a O-Like screw in 405nm module w/glass lens and an RKCSTR Micro-Drive.
The Host is disassembled right now and I've plotted basic layout and looks like it will accept my conversion happily.
I'll try and get some pics up of the host tonight or next couple days.......

Re: My laser "shooter" - A build thread

Perhaps you should open "A Build Thread" AFTER you have built
something....
I hate reality TV and don't really want to know every time you
go to the can or have a meal....

I am interested in a finished build and a tutorial of how you
did it...

Then again.... maybe it's just me...:undecided:

Re: My laser "shooter" - A build thread

Should I? Well it's not a really a build thread after you've built it, it's a built thread. I like to post pics and updates as my projects progress, not after the fact when I've lost interest in it and moved on to something else.
My projects aren't built in a day, and neither are my threads, so have patience grasshopper!

Right on to the built thread lol. Every other forum I've been on generally does build threads as they progress. Typically I take pictures for such, otherwise all I'd have are finished pics.

This is an entry for the contest in the first post. I had ordered the module and driver but unsure of what to use for a host. The diode came from a 4x BR player I had bought.
So a few months ago my nephew had bought an air pistol, didn't open it for a few days and found it didn't work, which by this time had lost the receipt. So he gave it to me, I took it apart last night and looks like it'll be pretty easy to tuck the components in. Hence the "shooter" in the thread title

Not if you are explaining how to Build it after it
has been built... like most of the well known tutorial
producing members do... JayRob, daguin and DTR just
to name a few.... (I know... I left out a bunch of others)

They build it.... debug it.... and show how it is done...
They don't bother us with their mistakes and changes
along the way...or what they had for lunch...

Well done mr. lasersbee...
Now, with your nitpicking about what you think is a proper build thread, you've managed to provoke a member into getting himself banned for name-calling.
You are the man.

Re: My laser "shooter" The start of a build thread in progression but nothing to see

Jerry,

This guy has not been on the forum for long to know that threads with custom projects are posted after the build is finished. Well except for the useless thread about getting pos rep, you can't say that he spams about when he has lunch or something. I actually liked to see a thread that keeps being updated with the guy's progress. Some problems the new guy might come across while building something laser related might appear helpful for even you or DTR etc. or give them ideas for new projects :)
I respect your opinion and actually agree with you up to a point, but hey, don't ruin this guy's fascination.
