Hi LPF!
Here I am with my first pen build as the title says...I just love it! :)

First off, the pin assignment from o-like is false on this driver, he is the real pin assignment. Thanks to ikneetsteel for this finding.

Parts list:
1 - PHR-803T diode
2 - Aixiz module (I used acrylic lens)
3 - O-like bluray driver
4 - A pen host I got off eBay from lasers4u (search ''laser host'' and you'll see it :) and it includes the host, PCB holder, button and 2 end caps)
5 - Two AAA batteries (my current draw was 440mA)

To note! The PCB holder will have to be filed down so the o-like bluray driver and PCB holder will fit inside the host. The right PCB holder on the picture is the smallest in case you can't see. My camera sucks!

#1 - I set my O-like bluray driver to 102mA (the pot is very sensible so setting it to an exact number is kinda hard) using a dummy load and measured across the 1 ohm. If you don't know hot to set a driver with a dummy load, use the search bar and many threads should come up!

#2 - I soldered longer leads to my diode, then used heatshrink tubbing to protect the connections and to avoid shorts.

#3 - Soldered my whole module to the driver like so.

#4 - Slid the PCB holder on like so and used hot glue to make it a ''whole module'' that would slide right into the host without being loose. DO NOT push the module in in one shot! Push it in slowly to be sure you don't pass up the switch! Takes measurements first to be sure everything will fit inside!

#5 - Slid everything inside the host and put my two AAA batteries in, negative touching spring. This was a case positive build.

Final results! - Turned it on, it works! :) Here a two pics with dust caps.

Thanks A LOT to Eudaimonium for ALL the help he has provided me with! He taught me a lot on laser and how they work! Hope this thread helps a few people.

Nice build, congrats on 1st:)

Btw, if you just hold the camera a little farther away, it will focus. Find a distance that works, it'll make the items seem smaller, but you can crop out JUST that part of the photo. That will also produce smaller pictures:)

Oh, and looks like you're using a cellphone camera - turn on a lot more light when you need to take a picture. Even a flashlight on the object will work. This will also make your pictures sharper.

Yup picked a PHR since they can run a while without getting too hot...yup I will resize the pics ASAP and my camera is so crapy that even if I try to focus it when holding my stuff further away I don`t cooperate :)
