I love these little baby 1 x AA Ultrafire C3 hosts they are so cute..

I bought the host off eBay, The heatsink and focus adapter came from Moh (think I he closed up shop before it arrived).

EDIT: Rayfoss sent the replacement sled to compensate me for the PHR in the original sled. Unfortunately it was also a "fake" S06J. The sleds were marked as "Manufacturer Refurbished" and had the blue dot on the diode as in the BDR-S06J group buy thread. Stay away from Rayfoss.

I am feeding it with about 115mA using the original Cree driver that came with the unit. It was putting around 350mA into the white LED, so i looked up the data sheet & started mucking around with resistors, turns out the ones already in it worked fine with the higher diode voltage drop. It's driving about 95mA at 1.5V and 120mA at 4.2V. I have tested it up to 7.2V (2 x 14250's or 1/2 size AA's) and the driver only gets warm at 7.2V after a minute or so.

I am very pleased with this, hope you enjoy it:

Obligatory beamshots. The first two are from my daughters Samsung - it seems to capture the colour better. The last is from my Canon A720:

The C3 build nice small build. I also like the host a lot.
How do you know the BDR-S06J sled is fake ? I would file a complaint against Rayfoss :(

The diode I got was the same as in this thread, Blue dot, three pins soldered etc. I didn't discover the scam until I had removed the diode from the sled, so probably no warrant on it now but I will tell everyone I know not to buy from them...

EDIT: The new sled arrived and again it had a PHR diode in it as per this thread. Not so happy now. They did have it listed as a "Manufacturer Refurbished" on eBay.

UPDATE:
I emailed Rayfoss and they asked for pictures of the sled they sent me. That's when I saw the PHR-803T sticker on it. Rayfoss have agreed to send me the correct sled.

Good on them for admiring liability and I am very happy and they corrected the mistake to my satisfaction :)

Blast! I had this exact build in mind! Same exact set up! Beat me to the punch! If only my 803 came in sooner  Oh well..
Nice job on the build! Looks great! I hope mine comes out as well as yours!
+1!*

*when I can... I need to spread some around first

Thanks for the rep-raincheck lol.

One thing, you should watch if you want to use the existing driver, stick with the a single 3.7 V to 4.2 V cell. The laser diode in this LED'd on Friday after I switched it on with the 2 x 3.6V 14250's in it. I think the initial startup voltage on the driver is a bit high running at 7.2V.

I'll put another one in with a better driver or use the host for a BDR diode I have coming.

Nice build, I'm going to look around to see if I can locate a host like that.
