My first "blue" laser

Well I have been looking around and I am thinking of making a blue ray laser and I wanted to get some peoples opinions on my ideas.

I was thinking of
MXDL 3405 host
10440 batteries
rkcstr Micro-Drive (low-range) I am thinking of this driver so I could use it for more than just burning
jayrob heatsink
PHR-803T in a Aixiz Housing
and 2 Dragon Lasers safety glasses

I am hoping i could use this for both burning stuff and a low power pointer(just for show)

You only need one pair of safety goggles... Also, don't use 3 10440 batteries. That would fry your driver, so use two and a dead battery or some kind of spacer. Also, a heatsink isn't needed unless you go above 100mA, and even then I wouldn't go past 110mA (That is, if you want it to last.). Besides that, it sounds good! Dragon Lasers makes very nice googles.

The goggles for green lasers have such a high OD you wouldn't be able to see the laser, plus you couldn't see green glow-in-the-dark writing.

I could solder a wire where the other battery should go, that should work.
I will make sure to get the right goggles too.
I think i will get the heat sink anyways because half the reason for building your own it for it to be extremely overpowered right  ;D

Yes, the red goggles offer some protection for 405nm light, but not as much as the "green and blue" goggles.

Read the OD ratings for the 405nm wavelength and decide for yourself.  Remember, you only get the one set of eyes.

if the laser puts out 100mW(way overpowered)
2.5OD would be .2mW
and 3.5 would be .02mW right?

That was my point. Don't you think the green protection is a little too good? OD 2.5 is definately enought protection for ~100mW (Or so I thought.). 100mW would turn to .5mW, which isn't going to cause instant damge. Don't you think .05mW of blu-ray would be rather, well, invisible?
