That's great mate over 1w would be fantastic if it was as tough as M140 but 5 second ramp up sounds perfect for this diode, how do you know it has 5 second ramp up and what driver is it.

Has anyone used an adjustable current survival laser driver for a 16x blu ray? I am using one and it makes a faint clicking noise when it runs. It is 600ma but does not have ramp up time. I tested it and it works fine, but im worried about it failing in the future.

I use those adjustable 2.2 drivers from SL. M-140, I watt 520, two 209 16X
I'm a newbie, and have had nothing but good luck. No clicking sounds.
My 209 running at 700mA is been with me a few months. Burn my name or a picture on wood from my couch during commercials. :)
Tried turning one up to 800mA to connect to a 209 16x. ( had a spare diode to experiment with. Worked great. For 45 seconds. Discovered how to turn one into an LED. :) I do us ESD strap and mat when building thm.
