I noticed you got your first PHR working in a project box correct

Get a pen host from Jayrob.
Get 10440's for the host. (waiting for mine to arrive)

A rkcstr drive, with this 1117 chip and you got yourself a sick laser in a nice pen.

Its what I'm doing, here check the pic.

Holy cr'p that is MIGHTY.
But i don't think those hosts are cheap, and after ordering 10 blanks from aixiz yesterday, I'm dry, and I have to get 14500 lithiums... Hold on no I don't have to get 'em. I was thinking of assemblying my bluray into flashlight host that uses AA's but this is much better (and more expensive i think :( )

Thaks for advice, i will keep this in my mind.

Those hosts are alright for the price.
Jayrob has em for $14 Including shipping.

Damn! PHR sled is 9 $ :D
It's a little too much for me, but I might dig through some old stuff, i remember i had a medical style flashlight that looked like a pen and used 2x AAA... Those are quite cheap, if you can find them.

That would work great, assuming the aixiz module is a good fit.

Longer battery life with AA too plus it would feel sturdier.

If it ain't , we make 'em fit.
The puny pen falls to the might of a hammer... :D
Kiddin', however it would be very nice to have it there, but those flashlight are not designed for lasers, meaning they seriously lack the place to stuff module and driver there... Well next weekend I'm'a go find it, and if i do, I will open a new thread, to let you knwo what am i doing and how it all worked out.

Cool. I'll do a post on this pen host too.

Still missing rayfoss driver (not here yet, it will work with 1.5v batts)
10440s will also work with my current rkcstr driver. (also not here yet)

So whichever one of those arrives first.

@Eudaimonium and Tabish:

Just check, if you buy them in ebay, that the seller are offering the "adj" version, cause, as any other of these families, they have also fixed output ones, and these are unhelpful, as current drivers.

As example, these ones are NOT good, cause are fixed output, where instead these ones are ok, cause are adjustable ones (the suffix of the part number must be "ADJ")

Thanks for the info. Quick question. If we replace the chip with the 1117. Does the output current stay exactly the same ??

Guess the only way is to try it. Dummy load is worth solid gold. :D
Still no reply of availability of 1117 in my fav store. Guess i will have to go to ask tomorrow.

I don't have a dummy load. Can ya get me the 6 diodes / resistor pls? (or whatever it takes to make one)

I can solder em no prob. I'll pay ya for em.

Just take apart some AC DC converter, or any kind of adapter, they all have 4 diodes each (cheap ones). There is also a guy on a forum that gives away 1 ohm resistors for free. If you still have a problem getting them, I'ma include them in 1117 package.
Let's see, you pay the shipping AND:
0.00$ are the 1117's
+ 0.00$ for diodes (each!)
+ 0.00$ for resistor

Rofl Thanks again. Goodluck finding the 1117.

As for the ac/dc convertors, I threw all the ones I didn't use in the trash about 2 weeks ago lol

Did rayfoss confirm this? It says 3-5.5v on their site. So two 1.5v batteries isn't going to cut it. Using one 10440 would work out better IMO.
