Re: looking for a 6x sled

according to the supplier i use the 8x's wont even be out for around another year at decent prices. atm its probably gonna be cheaper just to buy an 8x drive and harvest it yourself..

Does this really suprise anyone given the fiasco in the drews thread from hell? These sleds that we got were a fluke.

Somebody "stole" the QC rejects from the factory floor. We hope that they steal more (and that there are more for them to steal).

I feel so dirty :-[

Wait, the most recent order of 6x sleds? Like the one where I paid you for a sled last week? That sucks.

What's the status, then?

Re: looking for a 6x sled

Yep, Jake's supplier was probably my supplier, that's why my mini-buy failed. They said they don't know when it will be "in stock" and yet claim to be waiting on a "manufacturer", so that adds weight to Dave's theory that they steal them when some sleds fail the QC process. If anyone with a better knowledge of Chinese geography and manufacturing areas can check the addresses or regions of factories against their locations, we can confirm this once and for all. I can't find any specific information about manufacturing trends around Guangzhou though, so I may not be correct. Is there any advantage to the 4X over PHRs? I joined this forum in the aftermath of the violet "revolution" so I don't know too much about the earlier diodes. All I know is that it stood up to abuse a bit better than the PHRs but worse than the 6X, with power somewhere in between.

The PHR's safe limit is around 125mA.  The 4X's safe limit is around 160mA.  You can drive both of them higher, but at increasing risk to the diode.
