Leadlight Blu-Ray / Meredith Glass Lens!

Schweet....NESS!

I found that there was enough side wall 'thickness' on the brass Meredith module, to machine it down for a tight (hand pressed) fit into a leadlight!



* Using a FlexDrive @ 145mA's
* PHR-803T diode.
* The OEM driver is bypassed. Batteries are possitioned case negative. The FlexDrive is wired to the positive end of the batteries, through the side button.

It finishes off very nicely. The O.D. of the Meredith focus knob, is the same as the O.D. of the leadlight case. (with-in .005 in.)



Using a Meredith glass lens, this 'gold tipped' beauty puts out 132mW's! Not bad for 2 X AAA batteries!

Total cost in parts - $160

I wondered about this, but don't have a lathe. I wasn't willing to spin a $35 module in my drill

This is an quick and easy machining job, and I would do it for you at no charge. The only thing is, I would need the (already unassembled) leadlight as well. Because it is a very fine fit, and should be finalized with both parts available...

Thanks Jay. I will probably take you up on the offer after/if Andy_Con gets back from holiday. He's got a pretty good price on some leadlights. I was thinking I needed to build one of these just to say I had.

This build is every bit as clean, and even better than the picture shows! You will definitely want to make one.

The hardest part, is to disassemble the leadlight without scratching the nice finish, or damaging the side button.
The FlexDrive will have to be 'trimmed' or sanded as well. Just let me know when your ready! Oh... please let me know what the deal is with those discounted leadlights before you order...

Yes...we could easily get 200mW's out of it! Especially if we put a 6 X diode in there. But I'm not sure that pushing the heat is really worth it. 132mW's is plenty bright!

With shipping, it cost me $50 bucks. Not cheap! I saw some similar looking lasers for less, but the genuine leadlight is more expensive. I understand that andy_con may have a deal on some:

This is definitely a 'keeper' of a build! I wouldn't consider it an easy mod, although it's not too bad...

I have had a couple of people ask already, so....

For those who may be wondering, I will fit the Meredith modules to the leadlights for people for $10 bucks (plus shipping back). The only thing is, you have to send me the leadlight (already unassembled). The fit is very precise, and I must have both parts for a perfect fit. So, you would need to send me the Meredith glass lens too.

Or, pay me for my cost on the lens as well. ($47 dollars with the 5.6mm adapter) Also a couple of bucks for PayPal fees. So, in this scenario, the total would be $59 dollars plus shipping back. Of course, you must take your chances with customs or lost. (unless you are also in the U.S. - then, shipping with insurance is cheap)

P.S. If you have me do this, let me also machine the top of the 5.6mm adapter shorter, and the 'skirt' of the lens holder shorter as well. (no extra charge) This way, you will not have any problems getting focus:

The other answer to the focus issues, is to press your diode farther into the 5.6mm adapter. My method, allows a normal 'flush fit' pressed in diode. Just let me know if you want me to do this too...

Couldn't help but turn it up after reading of so many other's running the 803T diodes at higher currents!

Running at 145mA's now.

At this current I get 132mW's. This is using my Coherent PM5200 thermal meter with a PM3 sensor.

I guess it's not too bad of a place to be for such a small host using only 2 X AAA batteries!
