I posted on an existing thread in general section about this laser but as it is now fully functioning and I have written the tutorial I decided to put it in the right section.

This laser lighter is made up from:
Zippo (type) flip top lighter
PHR803T Blu-ray (donated by LPF member morgan[thanks ;) ])
Rkcstr drive, set at 110ma
Aixiz module
3 X GP 10A batteries (9v@38ma/h)
..and a few other bits.
Some photo's follow but the full tutorial can be found here:

Well done Rog :D. I never got around to starting mine, but I'm sure I couldn't have done as good of a job ;).

Rog, I saw your tutorial featured on hackaday.com, and am awed by your engineering skills. You are a real-life "Q"!

Just think what 007 could have done with one of these :)

You da man, Rog. I could just see this... some guy asks for a light and you pull out your Blu-Ray zippo (forgetting its a laser lighter) and blind him on accident. Be careful how you use this haha.

But really, nice build. I am obsessed with zippos and obsessed with 405nm light, so this is like a dream for me.

There's better batteries to use: two of these would be far better, giving the option of 7.2v @ 180-200mAh or 3.7v @ 360-400mAh depending on parallel or series.
:) just my $.02
and i want one of dem laser lighters. I must has it.

*Gasp*

You... :o

I did consider those batteries but I decided to go for ones I could get in 2 days rather than 2 weeks.... anyway the next project will have to be these batteries ;)
