Hey there, I'm a pretty new laser owner, and BRAND new to this forum. I am looking for a quality purple laser to bring with me to an upcoming music festival (March 2 - 5). I'm not really sure what I should be looking for, as far as pros and cons of different models and whatnot. I am quickly running out of time, and just found this forum while looking for reviews on this model that I was just about to buy, but you guys seems to think they are a bad company, so I'm hoping you, much more knowledgable laser owners, can help point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for any and all helpful input:thanks:.

Welcome to the forum!

Which company and model are you referring to? It may help if you give us some more information.

What are you planning to use a laser pointer at a music festival for?

Also ... can you not type in bold/italics/large font? It's obnoxious.

Do you mean purple or violet? Purple lasers aren't really a thing, as lasers are monochromatic and purple is a combination of red+blue.

Violet lasers are readily available, but they're pretty dim visibly. A 5mw 405nm will be way less bright than something like a cat toy red laser. That wickedlasers add is super misleading about the true color of that laser. The closest thing to an actual 'purple' laser in my opinion is 445nm.

I have a violet laser for sale, check my signature. It's pretty nice looking and the beam is visible at night. Wicked lasers are usually alright lasers, but bad customer service. I ship usually the same day.

What do you intend to do with the laser at the festival?

Without more information, this doesn't sound like a good idea in so many ways; having any kind of laser at a public festival is just an accident waiting to happen.
With all the recent bad rep that laser pointers have gotten with their inapropriate use, I can't see a good outcome from this.

BTW, Where are you located BisFitty?

The same stuff people use a red or green one for at a music festival, but purple is my favorite color. :p

Sorry about the font, I was trying to make it readable on this charcoal background. I find the basic font to be a bit difficult to read in my current viewing situation, but that may just be me :)

Ahh... So an easily visible purple colored laser, even at nights, is not really feasible?

What do they use them for? Maybe this? Don't use lasers in public like that. It's bad for all us hobbyists.

Music festival? You should check the rules of the event to see if they explicitly mention lasers being banned or not. Burning man has apparently banned them. And some people may not appreciate it. I would also be tempted to bring a laser with me but really due to the recent media attention they belong at home or under a professional license for public display. This hobby can have consequences to the wrong person. People react to lasers like they react to handguns. Neither belong out in the open around other unsuspecting people. You would really be asking for it.

You would need at least 600+mw of 405 to even get a visible beam in low light conditions. Fog/Smoke will lower the power requirement, while ambient light will increase it. Overall it's a little too dangerous to take something like that to a festival unless you really know what you're doing with it. Even then there's the risk of it getting confiscated by security.

Thank you for this tip! I just checked, and they do not mention lasers at all in the "Do Not Bring" list, tho, now that I realize that the beam won't be very bright, I am now less apt to drop so much on a purple/violet laser, lol
