Hey Guys...

a few weeks ago I stumbled on a 5mW 405nm Blu-Ray Pen style
pointer on LPF and went on eBay and bought 2 of them...
(after reading a thread by Slipstream)

5mW 405nm Blue Violet Purple Beam Laser Pointer Pen on eBay.ca (item 180437058764 end time 24-Dec-09 17:24:15 EST)

I put them on an LPM and one puts out 32mW while the other puts
out 36mW with the 1.5Volt AAA batteries supplied...

Very nice rubberized Black type of coating on the pen's exterior..
I think this is a great 30-35mW Pen style Pointer for $10.37US
delivered...

With both China and Korea in the market now, the price continues to drop.

Peace,
dave

I have one of them from FeeBay. There cool for GITD and fluorescent objects. And no fear of burning things, lol.

Now thats a great deal, and who doesn't like an over performing laser :p

Funny... I bought 2 of these as well and the output measured on my Laserbee I was 30-35mW as well! I orders a few more, at that price I have no complaints ;)

Yeah... I thought they were great... so I ordered 4 more last night...

Dang those are some sweet deals. I saw your ebay comment, checked out your acc (lasersbee), and saw you make like 5 purchases a day??? Thats crazy money..

Hey Jerry-- glad you let us know more about them--but--you say ...'a few weeks ago I stumbled on a 5mW 405nm Blu-Ray Pen style
pointer on eBay and bought 2 of them'...
guess you forgot that they were found by others here and so I think you stumbled on them on LPF first(or maybe at the same time??)--not a big deal for sure!!- but credit to the OP is a nice thing--most of my other 'finds' turned out to be old news --LOL--but I just keep on trying!!! stay warm up there. Hak in sunny Tx--72 degrees today!

Hey hakzaw1...

you are correct... thanks for reminding me...
I originally saw a Thread in Nov by Slipstream... then I went on
eBay and bought 2 Blu-Ray Lasers... Here is the original Thread...

I've edited the 1st Post....

N/P buddy-its all good- shouldn't have even mentioned it--I think Slip looked into it from my OP about the 1$ (plus 10.+ to ship) BR on Feebay. Some of those China sellers think they are being tricky with the up and down prices when the total turns out to be the same in the end. Like we cannot do the math LOL. But I had to order up 5 just now anyhow. Now for the LONG wait-- have a cool yule--Len-- aka hakzaw1 aka LaserLen

You say they advertise at 5mW but preform at 30ish? Are yall sure they haven't been pot modded? Will they burn out quickly is what I'm asking.

There are many Vets here that can give you a more informed answer but...since eekbay frowns on pointers over 5mW -sellers may have to advertise them as 5mW..and..If anything=== they might be set at a lower mA(sort of pot modded down not up). Burn-out has many variables-I think-like how much modded up and duty/rest cycles, additional heatsinking etc. My first BR pointer was a few years back-ebay=- Sunclanlasers and $140!!at 5mWs(OHH why didnt I just wait a few years.) Sunclan said no rest cycles needed-I could run it until the battery dies with no probs. I wrote them again recently and was told that with a few changes it can be modded to 100mWs. I was even more clueless then than now when my first 5mW Green pointer($30-FeeBay china ) lasted only one evening--I had not heard of duty/rest cycling so i put a tie-wrap on the button and the rest is history!! I have always thought that the china sellers of these Green Pointer don't inform about d/r cycles so you will have to buy another one!! ...............Someone may do a 'test til it dies' BR review but that may not be any kind of guarantee that you would get them same results..as far as I know those already gotten by LPF members are still working so far..but many have said that this one is really hard to take apart.........IMHO--but what do I know??--- hopefully you will hear more from Daguin-Laserbee-Yobresal and other gurus here with more info--its still a cooltool for only 10+$---hak

There are no true 5mW Blu-Ray lasers that I know of...
The Chinese are deceptive in their advertising...as we all know...

To be able to sell these 30-35mW lasers on eBay they needed to be
sold at a lower output such as 5mW.. It is just common sense..
If you think they are Pot Modded then don't buy any...
If you read the prior posts I just bought 4 more...

since I'm a Noob here...I guess I don't know what i"m doing...

Wow, no offense laserbee, I was just asking because obviously most of you people are good with the interworkings of a laser, and I thought maybe yall bought these as experiments cuz ya know how to fix them. Sorry. I know I'm a boob and I've been reminded of tgat with just about every post I've made.
