I ordered a couple of these the other day off of ebay seller etimeshop, and has anyone seen any from this seller that actually operate at the advertised 5mW? Or all they all 30mW+? I would just like to know this for safety reasons. I already ordered a pair of scopeguy20's blu-ray blocking glasses just to be on the safe side.

Wow! I haven't been paying attention to pricing in a few months. These fell off far more than I expected. I'll take two!

I wonder if they'll ever be less than red pointers

I doubt it. The really cheap red pointers that operate on three button cells are not even TO3 laser diodes and have no driver... they're just low-power laser dies directly glued to a small piece of metal, with cheap plastic optics and only a resistor and a pushbutton switch between the laser die and the batteries.

Even the simplest blu-ray pointer is composed at least of a true canned laser diode and needs a bit more juice than button cells can provide. And it's not recommended to drive those without a proper voltage/current-controlled driver.

I think that for $10, the cheap chinese bluray pointers are a pretty good deal, and I don't think they'll come down in price much.

My two BR lasers that I ordered a week ago came in today. These are my first BR lasers, and I must say WOW! Loving the color. And the brightness compares with my 5mW green pointer(although, the beam is much less visible than the greens one), so I'm guessing mine are overpowered.

Very pleased with these lasers, not bad for $9 a piece(that includes shipping).

I have a quick question, I've been hearing good things about the 5mw pointers from etimeshop. I recently ordered a 1mw violet pointer from etimeshop and I was wondering if I can expect it to be similar to the 5mw ones in that it will be higher power than advertised?

EDIT: Never mind, It just arrived in the post and the label states 5mw. I guess its just the same as the rest of them.

I just received mine from etimeshop in 7 business days. The both peak at around 40mW. One averages 34, and the other averages 33! Beam diameter is about the same as aixiz. Haven't measured divergence, but it's quite good. They both have a slight artifact at maybe 3degrees to the main beam, but barely noticeable. Very impressed

Mine took a while... about 3 weeks... but it worth the wait. :^)

Soooo... the price went down!! What the heck... I went and ordered another...

The one I got has been quite consistent and no problems at all.

That is not the same one where I have ordered mine

I ordered from etimeshop and did not (or have not yet) received any email from PayPal... as a matter of fact, funds were transfer as payment ($9.19 USD) to them.

got mine today. burns with optics but is there a way to focus this thing? don't really wanna crack the end open without knowing for sure. my intentions aren't so much for burning as my 118mW green does that but i'd like to focus this one

I also would like to open it, I tried, but it seems to be glued or really screw in. Has anyone open it?
