I just wanted to finish it tomorrw morning, i'm really anxious :). Woodburning irons are pretty much the same as soldering irons but they just call them "Woodburners" because they produce a little less heat and are compatible with other tips (I have one that is the size of a pin!). I'm not going to go straight for the diode with it, i'm gonna test it out on the MXDL LED board first to make sure that the solder flows with it ;). I always make sure to short out the capacitors, I have read too many stories about how many people zap theres because of it.

Wish me luck,

I've managed to toast 3 diodes @ 120ma in Aixiz modules...who knows why?

My first one I built was set back to 90ma and has been getting tons of use/abuse for a while with its new owner :)

I've made a few spirograph displays running at 75ma as they're being used for hours at a time.

Going to heavily heatsink the next few and see if I can break my 120ma curse :)

what kind of heat sinking are you using dan?

i have a few set at 150ma and use 3 washers for the heatsinks in my host and they get some good 5-10 minute duty cycles in the spirographs

i use arctic silver compound on all the parts that get any heat and i think it helps a ton!
