How to build a blu ray in a flashlight

I searched around for a while but could not find a good diagram of how to asemble a laser in a flashlight type host. I build a portable lab style laser but I have never tried to build a laser inside a flashlight. My main problem is I dont know how to get power from battery to the driver. I dont know of a good way to make contact with both terminals of the battery. Does anyone have a diagram of how to do this. Sorry for asking I know this is a really basic question that I already should know and the type of question that annoys the veteran members.

If you look at some of the builds here you can figure it out. Usually the pos. wire is mounted to the contact plate at the pos. end of the batt. compartment then the neg. is going to the body making a ground and completing the circuit. It's also dependent on how you make the diode, case positive or case negative I think. I may be wrong there though. Look at some builds, I'm new too and I figured it out ;)

Whats a good way to hook the diode case up to the battery?

??? You hook the battery to the driver after its soldered to the diode, never before the driver. Ever. Best thing to do, what I did, get a host from Jayrob and put it together after you read a LOT of threads here. I read for about a week before I did anything and it was the first time I ever even soldered.

I agree with Archienj7 here, but with certain drivers, for example the Lavadrive and Rkcstr micro driver, negative is ground on the driver so the negative pin of the laser diode connects to case ground of the flashlight and the negative terminal on the driver.
A diagram of these instances can be seen at the second page of the Flexdrive manual.

See. I'm not good with electrical stuff and didn't know that :) I told you I may be wrong though, point is though read a lot and check some hosts out. There are volumes of info here and countless pictures. I do stuff more be seeing it and putting it together, never took electronics or anything. Those driver manuals are really helpful too, if you can't get them here then they are on the drivers' respective sites in PDF format to download. I'd help you more if I could but I've only "built" one and it was more or less me putting the diode and driver together and hooking the juice up. :}

im very sorry of the the bad quality of this diagram because I just did it with paint in this moment. I hope it can help you.
And grounding it to the battery ill do a diagram for tomorrow. Too late right now

Archienj7: I meant the case surounding the diode that is for instance the negative contact with the battery through the flash light casing. Like the diagram on page 2 of the flexdrive manual. I just wasnt sure if it was ok to do that.
Jimmymcjimthejim and bennycast: Those diagrams help alot thanks. Ill get a host and try to make a contact casing for the diode thanks.

in the diagram the negative pin is going to the ground pin of the diode.

and if you want to ground it to the flashlight host casing you have to get a flashlight that is not plastic. Because you dont want a wire going all the way from the driver to the negative side of the battery.

If I wire the negative pin the the ground pin of the diode then surround it with a case would that be sufficient for my negative wiring? How do I hook the negative to the driver up? I plan to hook the diode up like the connect diode to case plan in the flexdrive manual.

I just fixed something in the diagram. i forgot to connect the negative pin with the case pin of the diode to the negative of the driver. You could just solder the negative to the case pin (Case pin = Ground) and then to the negative of the driver.

Yeah, just solder the case pin to the neg. pin on the diode, it makes it case negative which is just that the batteries go in normal way, case positive and they go in head toward spring/tailcap. Easiest way for me to tell you and I'm not the best with this stuff, listen to the more experienced guys. If you wondering about the module, that screws on the back of the diode, it just sits there really and a lot of people dont even use it.

A good start to understanding it :)

whats a good way to hook the positive side of the battery to the driver? If you want the battery assembly to be removable.
