Hi everyone. I've been a leech of the forum for many years and only recently started to give back to the Church of Laser (LPF) through donations. In light of donating I thought I'd become a member.

I want to thank everyone for answering all my question for me through out the years. Search has been my best friend and coherent soul mate. Without all of you my hobby would be a pipe dream. Thanks so much.

Anyway I wanted to share my newest. Was malingering in Bestbuy and saw a 10x. Maybe it's an over glorified 8X, I'm not an expert. I thought what the heck, I didn't remember it being mentioned before. After harvest it sits in Jayrob's Copperhead Pocket Mini 405-G-1 /w Flexdrive. Set to 360ma, I haven't an LPM (maybe soon). My dog loves it though. He's a laser guided dog. I've got 5 acres that he tears around chasing dots he'll never catch.

Nice.

The 8X -> 10X -> 12X transition happened so quickly that almost no attention was focused on these 10X's. We need someone on The Islands with an LPM :(

We know that the vibration dampening system was improved in that time frame somewhere. It could be a late 8X with the better system or an early 12X with different optics. Did you save the sled? Can you take macro's of it (or send it to me)?

Dave, Sled shots have been added. Of course I only thought to do that just after I pulled the diode. I don't know if it means anything- "manufactured December 09"

Bestbuy had it at the same price as the BH08- $209. I know someone working there, who happened to be working at a different Bestbuy the same time I was shopping. Yeah hook ups. I'll try to get some good beam shots later tonight.

Thanks. The sled is different from the 8X. We have an "unknown" here. The diode is at least an 8X. Sweet buy.

Now that you've said it's "unknown", I would really like to find an LPM. I know the Laser Safety officer at the local Air Force base. I'll ask him if he knows if any of the shops on base have an LPM. Or if anyone is willing to plot it or something like that I could let them borrow it. Any pros want a hack at it?

Dave, a fresh new BH10 sled has been shipped to you via UPS. You'll see it Wednesday. I'm looking forward to what you find out.

Everyone else, sorry I can't manage to get any good beam shots. For what it's worth- @10.5ft instant match burn (acute focus) and @ 9ft near instant yellow balloon pop (infinite focus). Yeah, I know really scientific. From a GGW 6x @200ma to the BH10 10x @360ma is really quite amazing. I really wish I had an LPM.

BestBuy online LG BH10 on sale for $180.

Jay- I love the copper heat sink. 10x heats up a lot in >1min on time and cools down what seems to be a lot faster than aluminum. Thanks

That it's a strange sled, for a 10X ..... plastic, almost no thermal dissipation, small heatsink on the diode ..... and also, it's just my impression, or it's not using any PBS in the optic paths ? ..... just dichros ? :confused:

LOL I didn't even know 10x's existed... I thought they were just skipped over. You're right Dave, that 8x to 12x transition was darn fast! And BTW nice find, I'm excited to see the results of this.

We read some blurbs about them being released in Japan, but no one here was carrying them (or they weren't released here).

Hawaiiians have a closer relationship with Japan than we Haole's do. ;)
