You're talking about the xbox hd addon - right? Looking at the front of the unit, along the left side (the long side) there's a curved piece of plastic. You can use a large flat head screwdriver to pop this off - start from either end. That will reveal the screws, and yes you'll need a torx for some of 'em.

heck if all else fails just use a flatbladed screwdriver - it's not gonna work anymore so why bother taking it apart nicely ;D

He's having trouble finding the screws in the first place. Like I said, there's a plastic piece along the side of the drive that easily pops off to reveal the first set of screws. This is the xbox hd add on, not the 'raw' drive as from geeks.

Yeah. Buying the add on HD DVD players is a crap shoot. You still have a nice diode there. You are just limited to about 50-60mW from it. Remember, it is the OLDER units that have the 803T sled in them. I would say that most of the NIB clearance items on the tables now will have the 0811 sled in them.

Peace,

The 811 is not as good as the 803 - it's still not a bad diode. Definitely more powerful than the PS3 diode. My first 405nm pointer using the '811' is still functional. I'm driving it at 50mA, and it's prolly putting out around 25mW. These can be pushed much harder than 50mA.

My 811-based pointer that I have for sale is running @125mA with a small heatsink, and is quite happy. I chose the current based on The Monk's graph that he made specific to this diode. At that curent, it seems it should be putting out ~80mW ;D

Only reason I mentioned it being for sale here(I already have a thread about it), is to say that I am confident about its "survival".. in case anyone was wondering.:)

Edited to credit the right person for the DT0811 graph..
