For a couple months now I've been wanting to get myself a 405nm laser. So, a couple weeks ago I finally ordered a 1W 405nm module from DTR. I've had this host laying around for a while now and wanted to put it to good use, so I decided to build the 405nm module in it.

The build wasn't too hard, although I did have to make a contact board fit the host.

Let's get to the pictures.

This is everything that went into the build:

It might be hard to see, but I soldered the V- to the unused pin of the diode and the V+ I soldered to the back of the contact board.

Last but not least, a few beamshots:

I'm quite satisfied with the finished build. It has a pretty decent duty cycle and the lens keeps glowing for a while after use thanks to the o-rings. If I were to ever do a similar build again in this particular host, I'd figure out a better way of making a contact board.

Thanks for reading!

Very nice EDC sized Burner you've got there gozert!
That Dorcy jr sure is a good looking host, I especially like the rounded look of the tailcap.

I'll do my best to include some number in my next build. Currently I don't have a LPM (waiting for the Radiant LPM to be in stock), and I don't really have any other half-decent stuff that I could pull decently accurate numbers with. Just soldering that spring onto the board took me 20 minutes because of the crappy soldering iron I have.

Very nice job. Fun having a little pocket burner. :) Having a crappy soldering iron sucks. Just got a new one. Weller brand $25. Has 3 little LEDs to light up the work.
