We have them, 8.00 a fish. All they are are zebra danios injected with jellyfish flourescence. I wouldn't buy them, because I don't support the injection of fishes. 90% of them die in the process, and sometimes it doesn't work, plus it's animal cruelty. :'( And no you can't write on them with laser light- they'll just shine like neon tetras do under a glolight.

Are you a part of PETA or "The Green Party" by any chance ::)

No, I've just always been against dying fish because it always fades away so it seems pretty pointless. :p

Yes.

Maybe...

I don't know! :D

But yeah, it does sound like a waste of money. Neon tetras are much cheaper, live longer and there is no animal cruelty involved with them! (right?)

It is NOT animal cruelty!
The genes are injected into their eggs, and the parents pass the gene onto their offspring.

Yes but there is a big difference between bioluminescence and flourescent. Bioluminescent in producing your own light by mixing of chemicals inside the body. Jellyfish are particularly good at this and there are literally hundreds of different species of jellyfish. Not all of the bioluminesce but there are more jellyfish that do than any other species in the ocean. I've never heard of flourescent fish or jellyfish though.

Bioluminescence is the physical process by which the fluorescence is achieved.  I think the jury is still out on this one.  We have really just begun to study the phenomenon

We are also already manipulating this through genetics

I would like to inject a human with some toxic dayglo paint. A human that likes lasing animals for fun, that is. Then I could have endless hours of screaming fun writing on them with my BR, occasionally hitting their eyes by mistake, then leave them to die from a melanoma. Sounds perfect, really.

Any volunteers? [smiley=evil.gif]
