hey leukoplast do you have an idea what LD driver did they use in that pointer? if you know this must be a big help for everyone to built bluray laser using 2 pcs of 3.7v of battery.. any body who knows the driver used in this gadget please reply on this thread thanks.

I have no idea, I actually think this is a commercial laser, not homebrew. It may be interesting to get one of these and dissect it to see what kind of driver it uses. Cause not only is it nice and small, but it might be possible to use it for higher rated diodes. For all I know, this thing could run a 100+mW diode just fine.

Where did you buy the Li-ion batteries? And I'm glad to hear you got a nice 405nm laser.

Well, the 350mAh 3.7v batteries came with it. But I picked up my 3.6v type 10440 300mAh batteries at http://www.batteryspace.com I also got a charger there as well.

Anyway, just about anything beats the sonar, pricewise ::) Is this 25mW CW? Ah but if your meter shows 25mW it must be even higher if it's pulsed so it can have a 25mW average.

Its CW. And I'm glad, since I rather dislike pulsed lasers and how they look.

Sweet laser, leuko. How'd you manage to score 25mW from a 10mW pointer? Anyhoo, the pics capture the 405nm experience well.

Thanks, and it seems I just got lucky. There are those few in a bunch of standard BD diodes that are 25mW. And mine happened to be one.

Its also possible the seller hooked me up with his brightest pointer. Cause I was chatting with him quite a bit about the laser. And he at one point was selling 20mW ones, I asked if I could buy a 20mW one instead, but he said he no longer had any. So its possible he had one lying around.

EDIT: I decided to take some more readings. I kept the laser on for about 4-5 mins, constantly testing its output on my fresh 300mAh batteries. And it constantly read above 25mW. And actually peaked at 26.8mW This laser kicks ass! :)

Also I'd like to note the beam isn't coming out straight, so some of it cancels off the tip of the outer aperture. I get about 3 more mW's when I take it off. I will probably make the hole bigger sometime soon so I can get the maximum mW's all the time.

i wonder where these bluray diodes come from?

could they be using a glass lens for the extra output?

Well for the high price that was paid for this pointer the diode is probably sporting a glass lens as well as over driven a little. The diode that was used is probably similar to one from Aixiz:
"If you are here to purchase the 20mw Blu-Ray laser diode for the Kip Kay Phaser project, click here..
405nm 20mw laser diode $140.00 USD ($2.50 shipping will be added) USE THE PURCHASE BUTTON BELOW THIS TEXT."
