first DIY build, Phr - 803t Excellent diode!

Hey everyone,
I finished my first Home made Phr-803t blu-ray and I am REALLY HAPPY with it! :san: I started out at the min 55mA, and was burning stuff popping balloons etc..and decided to turn it up. so I turned it up to 115mA and I must say, I am impressed! it burns excellent. I`m not sure how many mW i`m getting:thinking: since I don`t have a way to test it, But if I had to guess and I do, I would say it`s doing over 100mW easy! I would even say more mW than mA. it seems to be a very efficient diode! I am sure I could push it farther with all the info i`ve read here about it, but I want it to last. and thanks to everyone for all your hard work and research here! I found everything I needed to know to build my own. I am in the process of building a GGW x6 blu now:drool:, and will let everyone know how it goes. I plan on setting this one between 180-190 mA. (seems to be the most common current for descent life) thanks again.

You do have safety glasses right?

You might be able to turn it up a little without problems.
The kink (knee) on an PHR is 120mA. Running it harder then that reduces life. However some diodes can take much more current, W/ shorter life of course. I stick to 130mA for a PHR I want to last at least 200 hrs.
I do have a PHR running at 150mA (140+mW) with 10-15 hours on it. I'm expecting it to die at any time although.
It shows no sign of degradation so far. Last time I tested it =157mW peak.
It's a crap shoot when you push them over 120mA. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But you always shorten the LD's life.
