i wanted a unique laser so i went looking for a strange item and came across a 50cal casing, and heres the build well sort off anyway, if my writing is crap, sorry i just don't do this kinda stuff often.

1st picture is after i struggled to cut through the casing with a wannabe dremel :D.
In the 2nd picture i had great fun, first i cut the back end of a Aixiz module of to allow the driver to pass through, then i had to find a way to make it stay in the shell thats when i remembered reading on here that the aixiz modules are solderable, i tried a soldering iron and failed, tried a iron gun and failed some more, thats when my mate saw me struggling and suggested a blowtorch, lucky for me i had one, after about a hour of trying to line the c*** up this was the best i got. Oh and now its not shiny :(
3rd picture was when i realised i was pretty much screwed cause i don't have tap and dies so i couldn't use the rear part of the casing it was also far to thick to do anything with, so i looked through a box of crud (i have many of these) and found a torch, cut that up and pressed it in with a vice, i thought the alloy would lose against brass until it collapsed on itself, i then thought hey looks cool still so i continued.
4th picture is just all parts of host assembled.
5th and 6th picture are after i sanded the black off the rear end and buffed it to a nice shine and 18,000 rpm buffer wheel into a blob of rubbing compond resulted in me having to wash my face  didnt think that one through

now the sort off built part, i have a phr-803 laser in the end of it, i have the driver what i dont have is a 14500 li ion battery to show you it working, so none of the internals are wired up.

+1 for creativity, never seen a build like this before. Did you already buy a battery and waiting for shipping? I want to see it work. :)

ok, afraid to say that i screwed up big time. i soldered the driver to laser and tested, it works sweet, now i needed to put on a spring for battery contact, ripped apart a old remote and used the spring from that it was to big so i cut it down till it fit tried to insulate the whole lot so there was no risk of a short but it the would not fit so i left it.
What a mistake that was, screwed it all together and ran a single wire to the spring so i could test it i only had a 17500 li ion that does not fit so that was used, the second i put the wire on the end of battery it burnt my finger causing me to yank it (obviously the spring still was to big and shorted) took it apart to make spring smaller, now for my misery. the yank ripped the negative lead from the diode off the board along with the copper track, i figured easy enough il link it elsewhere, now where it got even worse because there was only the positive holding the board it became weak and broke the leg of the diode, now i have a useless diode and driver :(

lesson learned today, building things like this need patience, also learnt why it be a good idea to have a soldering stand after it fell onto my leg.
wont be giving up, the second those sleds come i will be fitting a new one with more patience and less rush rush.
