Damn, I'm really sorry to hear that.
I was lucky when I mangled my hand that my surgeon (one of the two was a good guy) tried his hardest to put me back together.
The other one was more interested in playing with my mutilated remnants than he was in helping me (my dad actually tried to strangle him ^_^).
Your case is one of the reasons why research into stem cells NEEDS to be done, you obviously have some form of nerve damage and the research could dramatically improve your standard of living.
When one of my girlfriend's friends was pregnant my gf got a "stem cell kit" to collect whatever you do when the baby is born (I know NOTHING about it ;) ). The doctor told her that he didn't feel like doing it so he just didn't. The kit was like $300 and it would have taken him 5 seconds.... A$$HOLE...
You know in the old movies when a woman was giving birth the doc always said "I need some warm water and towels"? That was to let her stretch more easily and pass the baby without tearing. These days a doctor will just let her tear because it is less effort for him and often go so far as to induce a woman if it is taking too long and he wants to go home. (happened to my mother).
This mentality is wrong, they are public servants that no longer serve the public.
*edit*
It's funny you should mention the pharmaceutical companies and the "$$ in the system". I was reading about cancer today and some of the "natural remedies" people have tried. Most of them are just funny but some actually did show some promise. Chemo is only something like 2% successful but the preferred treatment of most cancers. There were a few that showed up to 9% success but were quickly outlawed in the states. There are still others that have very good results and are illegal or not FDA approved (some have been in "testing" for 25+ years) but will never make it to a pharmacy because the patents are held by non-american companies.
There are trillions spent on pills worldwide, I guess it makes sense that the governments don't want to slaughter the cash cow even for the good of the people.

Honestly, I'm disabled from a car accident over 6 years ago. I trusted doctors and I was put thought things they would consider torture if I wasn't agreeing to it. I am no more fixed and they still can't tell me exactly whats wrong. Why do I have knife Jabs going down my spine and into my right leg.

Auto your correct, doctors nowadays do not know anything and for the most part are pushing things for $$. They push drugs from drug companies that just lobby to them and give them stuff. The more things you come in the more $$ in the system.

Now im not saying don't use them, but you better read the books your self and see what they said is true before you just start popping things and doing "tests". Other wise you will regret it as I do. Nothing wrong with getting your education on it before.

Since we're on the subject of whether or not to trust doctors I thought I'd share my story. 3 years ago the summer before I started my senior year in highschool, I started noticing that I didn't have as much energy as I used to and I developed a pretty bad case of insomnia. So figuring that I was just out of shape I started exercising and eating more fish and vegetables. It got worse my heart started fluttering I would shiver uncontrollable I was going to the bathroom every 5 minutes my hair started falling out and I felt disoriented and confused for several hours a day. When it was time for school to start I couldn't do it, I had to finish school on a computer at home.

I went to one doctor and was told it's probably just hormones don't worry about it. I wanted a second opinion so I went to a psychiatrist, he was convinced I had anxiety and was at risk of getting schizophrenia. He put me on zoloft and seroquel, which of course made me feel like a zombie. I told him he must be wrong and he put me on more antipsychotics.

Around this time my grandma sent me an article about people getting mercury poisoning from fish. I did some research, found a list of symptoms and I had almost every one. I also found out it causes your brain to be defficient in certain neurotransmitters. I ordered some supplements off the internet and more than half of my psychological problems went away.

I went to see a well known, reputable doctor he told me there's no treatment and just to wait it out. 3 months ago I still wasn't any better so I decided to see an alternative doctor not holistic he just has a different way of doing things. He tells me mercury poisoning is very easy to treat with IV chelation therapy
and a few supplements. I've had 10 treatments and I feel better than I have in years. He also got rid of my mold allergy, which other doctors told me was impossible. I don't need allergy medication anymore.

Always do research and always get a second or third opinion. most perscriptions treat or cover up problems they don't fix them.

I got your PM as well. Thank You, I appreciate your concern. I wont give up on getting fixed don't worry.

And @auto: it is really sad how medicine and Procedures are "Not FDA approved" Or " It's considered a illegal Drug and the LABs can't even test and see how useful the chemical is" The 2ed I think is crazy, EVERY DRUG should be allowed to TEST and see if we can benefit from it or a extract from it. This worlds Greed is going kill everything. Not just in medicine, but everything.

@ Cyparagon
Did you seriously just negative rep me for stating an opinion, supporting it with stories from my personal experiences, and giving additional supporting evidence from hours and hours of medical research?
That is truly low.
I still won't negative rep you because I don't believe you should judge someone for what they believe in.
*direct quote from my -rep* --->"Among other things, trying to disguise nonsense as fact and hiding behind "it's my opinion".
What part of a fungus not being able to survive in a urea bath doesn't make sense to you?
I sympathize with people, offer suggestions if I have info that might help (which I often do), and try to be as respectful and honorable as one can be.
Your actions show your true worth. This belongs in the fail thread,
you disgust me.

@Krogith
The FDA is so far behind that some things that ARE on the market have no business being there.
When I went to Mexico/Belize for a few months I took my Chloroquine like a good little boy scout and had no problems. A couple of friends (married couple) were taking a new and more expensive version and a few months after we got back they saw on the news that it had been recalled for making people go bananas (pardon my medical jargon).
The reason they found out after was because the FDA finally got around to actually finishing up the tests.
There are a lot of very cool medications coming out of the jungles though (like quinine), IMHO that is where the coolest stuff will be found, there are too many complications from synthetic hormones and drugs as it is.
I was reading about the way fat cells work the other day and it turns out that if you put fat liposuctioned out in a centrifuge for a few minutes it spins out the stem cells and the regenerative cells. Apparently this is the basis of the "fat relocation" surgeries. There might be a way to treat those cells a certain way (think introduction of various hormones) and steer their regeneration more toward nerve cells for example.
If there is a way to treat diseases affecting the nervous system in the next 10 years?
Holy crap dude, talk about a miracle.
That could even just be the beginning, if science gets good enough at it, it may be possible to replicate complex systems like entire organs or even bones, skin, ligaments, etc.
Gives me goose bumps just thinking of the possibilities. ^_^
