Hello people, it's been a month now that i want to buy a PHR-803T blu-ray laser diode.

PHR-803T blu-ray laser diode in focusing module - $17.99 : Modwerx Shop

This one is ok , right???

But i need a driver as well...Can i use one that i extracted from a green laser???
I want to use it in the romisen lb-030 green host from DX.( DealExtreme: $26.85 30mW Romisen L-B030 Green Laser with GITD Tail (CR123A) )
The power source will be a single CR123 battery.

Will this work or not??? What is the best way to make this laser ?

Waiting for your valuable opinions~~~~~~~:can::can:

What current would be the best for a high output???

With the driver above ,do i have to use more than one CR123 battery???
Will the aixiz module fit in the romisen host???

I'd use 110mA for a nice output and decent life span. +10mA max, I wouldn't go any higher than 120, it will drop the life span of the diode quite a bit.

Hello again! I am planning to use these parts to make a blue-ray laser:

405nm PHR-803T Blu Ray Diode in Aixiz Laser Module Housing [PHR-803T in Aixiz module] - $19.83 : High Tech DealZ, Simplifying the LASER Hobby! ---------> 19.83$

405nm blu-ray laser diode driver [OLBVD20] - $7.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products ----------------> 8+3 $ = 11$ including shipping

They are ok , right??? I am buying this driver because my budget is low now...
Do you think i will face any problems? Will it be difficult to solder these two items together???
I will power this driver with a CR123 3,5 V battery.

I am waiting for your comments guys! :whistle::whistle:

I don't think that is a boost driver...so you will need more than just 1 cr123 you will probably need 2 :san:
Hope this helps,

To drive a bluray with a DDL driver would require 7V at the battery, no?

To operate within spec, it requires a voltage drop of 4.25 volts across the driver: 3 volts for the lm317, 1.25 for the sense resistor. Running a bluray from 2 lithium cells with a DDL circuit is way out of spec for the regulator - so far, i expect chances of failure are very realistic.

Well,Toogoofy I have read several posts in the forum and many people power a phr with this driver using a 4-4.2 V battery (a full CR123 3.6V or 18650)with no problem...
Why is that ?
